  1. With the restrictions now in place by FedEx, UPS, and USPS that becomes the best option in many cases. Some years ago, I had an out-of-state buyer of a Title 2 gun who wanted me to transfer to my local FFL-SOT rather than ship to his local FFL (this was a number of years ago when a non-FFL could send by FedEx), and he paid the transfer taxes (it was two stamps) plus the time to transfer which at that time took about one month for a Form 4 transfer to a FFL-SOT). My local FFL-SOT then transferred to his FFL-SOT who then transferred to the buyer, so the buyer ended up paying for two transfers ($800 total) along with the extra time to do so. Not very efficient.
  2. Bob, Glad to hear you got it worked out with the Post Office. Some years ago, I had a WWII Thompson shipped to my local FFL-SOT from a dealer in Kentucky via USPS Registered Mail. To make a long story short, I saw from the tracking it was out-for-delivery in Atlanta (I don't even live in Georgia), so needless to say that made me nervous. It worked out OK as it eventually got to my FFL-SOT. However, what if they had delivered to someone in Atlanta and whoever that "lucky" person was decided to keep it (setting aside the issue of having signed for it). A lot can go wrong with the USPS, especially these days with poorer service becoming the norm.
  3. It sounds like it's kind of like getting reimbursed by Gunbroker for a deadbeat bidder. It took me many months to do so after numerous attempts. The point being it only takes one time to leave a sour taste in your mouth. Registered Mail should be the best way to send something but turns out there are unanticipated problems. Only takes one time. Certainly gives you pause to use Registered Mail, especially for something like a $25K gun as pointed out.
  4. Yes, estate sales or older owners liquidating collection, so the wife and kids don't have to be burdened with it. Going to get harder and harder to find a nice original gun.
  5. You can look at TSMGguy's and my BNZ41s for good comparison at the following thread: I see there is a bid now, so going to sell for at least $25K.
  6. It will be interesting to see how this one does: Steyr MP-40 9mm Fully Transferable Machinegun WWII - '68 Amnesty Registered - Machine Guns at GunBroker.com : 1029755691 No resting bar and bolt appears to have two serial numbers stamped on it (in picture #57 8917 appears to have been added) among other issues. I'm not the seller nor do I know the seller. Robert
  7. I think what happened is I didn't answer the question about "saved for kids" (which I didn't think was relevant) and it defaulted to the original private setting. I answered it this time, so should work. Obviously not that familiar with YouTube settings. Hopefully works now.
  8. Try it now. I thought if you had the link, you could view it. I think you can now. Robert
  9. A repost of a picture of my MP40 BNZ41 which I bought from the son of the WWII vet that brought it home and registered it in the 1968 Amnesty. Note the hook style bolt and unmodified receiver. Also, a short video of firing it: https://youtu.be/xEh5zg_-ztU Robert
  10. Anyone see the asking price?: WTS Rare C&R MP38 All Matching SPF - NFA Market Board - Sturmgewehr.com Forums Robert
  11. So there is no difference whatsoever between an MP38 bolt and an MP40 bolt if they have the same type (original) hooked cocking handle?
  12. You have to try different magazines and keep the ones that fit. Variation in magazines. Not like a Thompson where parts are interchangeable. I had a kind board member send me a bunch of magazines, which I then tested the fit in my MKII and traded ones that didn't fit. I understand this is common.
  13. Midwest Tactical has a 38/42 listed now at $30K: GunSpot.com | Gun Auction: Beretta 38/42 Transferable Machine Gun Their email states $27,495, so I guess this is their asking price.
  14. As soon as I saw it and the GB add which states in part: "LIKE NEW CONDITION! APPEARS AS IF IT IS UNFIRED. LOOKS AS THOUGH IT SPENT WW2 TO PRESENT IN COSMOLINE!" My quick analysis was it was obviously too good to be true. My first thought was it looked like one of the Russian parts guns. I'm not sure but I'd want to see the current ATF paperwork and FOIA history of this gun to trace its origins and history.
