COMBAT! The exact reason I wanted a Thompson every day since age 12. Only took nearly half a Century, but I did get there. Had to go each Tuesday to a friend's house to watch. Our TV didn't get the ABC channel. We did get the other two networks. Was often disappointed when it was Rick Jason's turn. He only had the Carbine. Turns out Rick was the only real gun guy of the two.

A lifelong fan of F&S, from their original 1962 first run appearance on The Beverly Hillbillies ("Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, oh please don't marry Earl..."). On another episode, they played Earl's Composition, "Foggy Mountain Breakdown", several years before "Bonnie and Clyde". Photo is appropriate: Bluegrass Performers "Who were there" have described the notes from Earl's Banjo, "Bouncing off the back wall of the Ryman like bullets out of a machinegun".

I did exactly that, pre-cell phone, on some expensive camera equipment. But, I added: "He's a police officer in (nearby town), and he will..." I think they may have hurt their wrist hanging up the phone.

Several years ago, the seller's form 4 had the 21AC listed as a 28AC. I called ATF, and was told to put the incorrect information on my form 4 application, "...otherwise, it will just complicate things and add six more months to the transfer". I repeated this back to him, to make certain of what he was saying. Yes, that was what he said. I replied, "But, then I'll have a new form 4 with wrong information". Reply: "Well, you can get it changed after you have the approved form". I asked, "Will they send me a new form 4 with the correct information? Reply, "No, they won't do that. But the registry will correct their information". So, that's how I did it. After the transfer approval (over a year later) I sent a letter explaining all this, and requesting the information update. Around another year later, I received a one page letter, stating only: (Quote) "The requested change has been made to the registry". Nothing else. No serial number. Nothing to even indicate which item or change was involved.

Also, some West Hurley Actuators were made with a separate knob, peened into place, much like the original front sights on 1911's. One member here has samples of most, if not all, of these WH parts, but he might be out Skeet Shooting today.

Instead of marked on the wrong side, maybe the barrel alignment mark photo was reversed. On the other hand, WH's never left the factory with alignment marks, so anything is possible.

A couple of other excellent books on these subjects, that seemed to have escaped this poster's attention: A Thompson Compendium, (and) An Amateur's Guide for the Colt TSMG You will be very pleased to own one or both of them.

Actually looked at a 28 I'd call even worse that that, a few years back. Wish I'd taken some photos. Didn't buy it, even at the under 10K price. A serial number, with some metal wrapped around it.

Though I no longer own it, West Hurley "True M1" (Serial No. in the low 700 range), had an unmarked bright M1A1 style bolt.

The director tried to conceal the M2 mount, but not successfully. IMG_6206.JPG IMG_6210.JPG Much better images. Thanks Never noticed the tripod in the original broadcast. The small black and white TV's of the 60's did a good job of hiding many details. Mary Ann still looked fine in B&W.

I remember one episode where they took the M2 off the jeep, positioned it on top of a rock, and fired away. No tripod. Not much recoil with blanks. Hans/Eric had several roles in "Combat". Unlike many of the "Krauts", his German didn't have an English accent.
