  1. Hey guys... As yall may remember, I've got 2 WW2 Thompson submachine guns; a '28A1 and a M1A1. I'm likely going to sell the '28A1 in order to fund some custom tactical rifles I'm planning to have built. Just putting the word out now. If I go forward, I'll be posting pics and terms later this weekend. Hold off on any e-mails till I post the ad. Thanks
  2. QUOTE (PhilOhio @ Oct 13 2006, 10:41 AM)The reason it triggered all the comments was because it was indeed well above the market, despite what you say. There is probably no group of people more knowledgeable of that market than the collection of Thompson fanciers on this board. They do know. Phil... You know that I respect you tremendously. I promise you, Steave is as knowledgeable and as fair a dealer/enthusiast as you will ever find. I bet you a $10 donation to the board that the gun sells for at least 95% of the asking price in the next 30 days. One thing I've learned in the past few years of building a Title II collection from scratch is that there is ALWAYS someone with a lot of money who won't miss a breath plunking down the change necessary to buy a gun like the one being offerred. Just because 99 other people wouldn't dream of paying that price, it only takes one who will. That, by definition, is "the market" and it's Steave's responsibility to his client to hit that mark. When I first saw this ad, I thought Steave was selling another certain Navy Colt I've had the privilege of fondling. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

  4. QUOTE (Jay Baker @ Aug 6 2006, 05:19 PM) I used mine earlier this week and my stuff came in yesterday. Curiously, though the invoice recieved shows the credit, my bank statement shows only a full charge transaction less the 7.99 shipping charge. This another common SG trick. They often "forget" to process your coupons. Happen to me on my first order. Listen guys, at this point, if anyone has a problem with SG, it's your own fault. We've been telling you for over a year now how these guys operate. DON'T ORDER FROM SPORTSMAN'S GUIDE.
  5. QUOTE (LIONHART @ Jul 29 2006, 01:59 PM) ... the Drums are on arrival. They have been shipped, with an ETA of around the first of September. (Actually, anytime really).... Lionhart, Thanks for the update. If the drums have been shipped, why is the arrival date so uncertain?
  6. QUOTE (PhilOhio @ Jul 23 2006, 10:50 AM) Congratulations, dad, but what we really want to know is, did they leave the church under an arch formed by crossed Thompsons, wielded by a Texas Ranger honor guard? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif No firearms this time. She is our oldest daughter. Both she and her new husband enjoy shooting my guns and she's a very good shot with anything topped with an Aimpoint. She interned with the Austin Police Department as a victim's counsellor and would tease the cops she rode with to calls that she was a better shot than they. She wants all my Title II stuff when I'm gone. Her younger sister wants all my wife's jewelry. I wonder who's going to make out better in the long run. Thanks for all the wishes.

  8. If anybody has some WW2 drums pouches they want to sell, please drop me an e-mail. Thanks!
  9. Nobody should find this news surprising. The TSMG drums are just another instance of SG offerring something for sale at a blowout price and then never delivering said item at said price. While I have my suspicions, I have no proof that there was any deliberate misrepresentation in order to sell memberships. Regardless I will NEVER purchase anything from them again. Their e-mails are automatically deleted and their catalogs go immediately into the recycle bin. Lionhart.... we're counting on you buddy.
  10. As I have relayed previously, I was told by Ryton Arms, a UK-based company who has been selling these drums in the US for the past 18 months or so, that these drums are coming out of Finland.
  11. QUOTE (hrt4me @ Apr 18 2006, 04:39 PM)Last August 2005, Sportsman's Guide ordered about 300 of the L-drums (they ordered as many as they could get at the time) . They are still trying to get them delivered The drums are in country. Ryton Arms has been sellling them at gunshows here in Dallas for the past 8 months or so. I think someone mentioned the other day that Ryton had drums for sale at the recent Tulsa show. I'll bet you a dollar here's what has happened with the SG drums. I betcha they agreed to buy them at some price, let's say $200. They post them on their websight for sale at $400 ($360 Buyer's Club) and sell all 300 in a matter of hours. Everyone (Seller for sure) suddenly realizes they've mispriced the drums and Seller refuses to sell the drums at the original $200 price. They now want $375. SG isn't going to lose money on a deal so they start a game of chicken with the Seller while hoping to string tus along. Why do I think this is the story? The Ryton Arms guy told me almost a year ago about the drums but when I told him the SG price he shook his head saying that price was not real. The drums he's been offering have been $600 to $650 and frankly they did not look all that nice.
  12. You want to know why the drums haven't arrived. Consider the following . I ordered 2 drums last July (August?). At the time of my orginal order I was a member of the Buyer's Club and therefore qualified for the reduced price. I got one of the backorder notices and reconfirmed my order via e-mail. Later, when I didn't receive the next backorder notice, I inquired with Customer Servicve (Ha! What a misnomer) and found out they had cancelled my order claiming I had never reconfirmed. Even after I sent them a copy of my original e-mail they told me "Tough". A couple of months ago when someone mentioned SG was showing the drums on their website again, I placed a new order for 2 drums. I paid the regular price 'cause I wasn't about to be suckered again for $30 Buyer's Club fee in order to buy an item they probably won't ever deliver. I got a backorder notice on this new order, which I confirmed verbally. After Lionhart put together his group buy I called SG and cancelled the order. When asked why, I told them I had acquired the items through other means. So... who wants to guess what arrived in the mail today? Yep, that's right; another backorder notice. I wouldn't order a spent casing from SG.
  13. Come on guys. Quite torturing yourselves and recognize who you're dealing with... http://www.gunsnet.net/forums/showthread.p...tsman%27s+guide
  14. Since I have two coming from Lionhart, I cancelled my SG order Thursday. So now there's 2 more available for everyone else.
