  1. Hi ranger1385, I second the Privi. Clean and good quality. Reloadable. I try to stay with FMJ but it is often out of stock. Oddly the 150gr SP runs just fine in the Bren but the 180 SP (soft point) does not run. The 180 soft point jams when feeding in the Bren. Congratulations on the Lewis! That is really a prize! Certainly a really neat firearm. Awhile back there were some threads by board members that were shooting cast bullets at reduced velocity to save $ and wear on the 100 year old guns. It should be a blast to shoot. Take care, Grasshopper
  2. Hi All, Been running JAC's and Drum Dr. conversions for about 20 years. For fun I adapted the McFadden LGL to the Thompson 22 mags. I did magwells for the JAC magazines and BDM mags. Nothing fancy. You have to hold the magazine in the magwell while pulling the trigger. It is great for range expo's when 4000 rounds/day will wear out your friends :). Enjoy, Grasshopper
  3. Hi, FWIW, in the last year we have done at least 10 E-file Form 4 from the shop (SOT) to local individuals. These were done using BATF's E-file system w/o help from other support organizations. Everything went well. Transfer times varied from 41 days to 6 months. We were quite shocked at the 41 days but the buyer was happy. Our experience. YMMV. Grasshopper ps. Unless things have recently changed (and they might), your gun should go paper 4 to your local dealer on a 5320.4 (paper). From the local dealer to you on a 5320.4 (e-file or paper). If the seller is using his own local dealer there will be a form 3 between the two SOTs.
  4. Hi Bore, Here it is: https://biggerhammer.net/sigamt/kern/ Think it is part of this forum these days. Enjoy, Keith
  5. Hi All, I use the MAT-49 pouches. The 5X40 round mags fit just fine and the flap still works. Enjoy, Grasshopper
  6. Hi TSMG28, I'm with Sandman57. I had one of the black delrin boxed early kits and 3 of the oak boxed later kits. Each one took a bit of fitting. You could see where Merle had "faced" the front of the bolt carrier a bit to make the bolt bottom on the 22 barrel and the bolt carrier bottom on the inside of the receiver at the same time. Hammers were then adjusted after the bolt fitting operation. I'd venture to guess that the barrels may be matched to the bolt in any given kit. You have to love Merle's later kits for the '28's with the nice cocking piece that sits in the top of the bolt carrier. I thought that to be a significant improvement. On the M1 kits I changed the cocking piece to be very similar to the one used with the 45 bolt (it went through the bolt carrier and was held in by the recoil spring). Thanks for helping everyone by getting these kits together. They are worth the trouble to get them running. Enjoy, Grasshopper
  7. Hi All, Back for the moment anyway Grasshopper
  8. Hi All, I got in for awhile today after lunch. I've no insight into the problems but I'm sure Dalbert and crew are fighting some kind of demons. Grasshopper
  9. Hi mondabottle, I just requested copies to recover paperwork for a friend. Had him sign a letter with make, model, S/N, caliber, and his address requesting copies. Sent it to NFAFAX@atf.gov I got a response the next day indicating they would be right on it in no sooner than 90 days :(. Please let us know how quickly they turn your request around. I'll do the same. Enjoy, Grasshopper
  10. Hi Mojopin2010, For bullet-proof fun, the 1919A6 isn't too bad. They run so well as to be boring (right!). For magazine fed I'm partial to the Bren (some searching for one @ 30k). There were a few Vickers and a few Maxim 08's available quiet reasonably but water and LMG don't mix. I'd lean to the 1919-A6. Shouldn't cost that much so you have money for spares and ammo. BTW, I dream of a Lewis. They really look like fun. Enjoy the hunt, Grasshopper
  11. Hi All, Background: I am helping out a friend that is unable to find registration of an NFA firearm. In this case it is a dealer that closed his sole proprietorship business about 37 years ago. The firearm was purchased new directly from the manufacturer so I'm assuming it transferred to the business (ffl/sot) with a Form 3. I've got a cover letter for BATF that requests a copy of the registration paperwork with the business information, the owners information (past and current addresses), manufacturer, S/N, caliber, barrel length and OAL. In addition I have a 5320.20 to change the address to his current residence. This is all signed by the owner. How do I submit this package? Can it just go in via the NFAFax@atf.gov? If anyone has experience with this situation I could use some help. Sincerely, Grasshopper ps. I've found several owners in this same situation (lost paperwork). Any recent experience in paperwork recovery would be helpful.
  12. Thanks Bug & Got Uzi. Your help is appreciated. I've found very limited information until now on the guns. They are unusual for sure. Funny thing is I think one of them is of the Sig 551 variety. Crazy additional question: If you remove the barrels on two identical Pre-Sample SBR's would they then no longer be SBR's? (Sort of like removing the barrel from a Lahti L39 is it still a DD?). Back to the SBR's. Could you then register the receivers that were Pre-Sample SBR's with a different short barrel (like swapping the barrels between guns when approved) to make transferable SBR's? Arg - 922R. I think that may prevent conversion to a normal rifle or SBR. Grasshopper
  13. Hi All, Found some pre-may dealer sample SBR's in the inventory. I imagine that would make them foreign manufactured firearms imported in a SBR configuration between 68 and 86. It is obvious that they can be transferred to other FFL holders of SOT status. My question is can the short barrel be removed from the Pre-may sample and the remaining firearm be sold as a non-NFA firearm (w/o the barrel)? Thanks, Grasshopper
  14. Hi All, FN manufacture. Giveaway is the small cocking piece (other than the header)? Grasshopper
  15. Hi All, Oh yes. I'm with Johsonlmg41 & Dank. Playing "catch" with woodworking equipment can lead to giving out high-4's instead of high-5's for celebrations! . Grasshopper
