  1. I have one if anyone is still looking. Original but not as nice as Baders, I don't need it if anyone is interested.
  2. I had this happen years ago with my 1927 M1. I removed the safety altogether then with a small scredriver I tripped something and it droped the hamer. Then it came appart in the normal way.
  3. Pictures of the case http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh571/wsmutch/101_1427.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh571/wsmutch/101_1428.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh571/wsmutch/101_1429.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh571/wsmutch/101_1430.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh571/wsmutch/101_1431.jpg http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh571/wsmutch/101_1435.jpg I have the key but the lock does not work, not sure why except I never used it.
  4. I put this here because the case was designed for the semi auto model. I bought this in the early 80's when I bought my M1 but its really more suited for the 1928 type gun. Im looking for $150.00, but I will consider any reasonable offer. Its in very good condition. Shipping to U.S. only. Wes Price reduced to $125.00
  5. I was rereading some older Steve Ambro book, I think it was citizen soldiers, and I came across a bit about the difference between US and Greman ammo. He mentioned that american powder was not completely smokeless but that the german's was. Because of this the amercam ammo tended to give positions away. He insinuated that the more experianced soldiers tended to avoid unnessesary fire for this reason. Also, I head from other sorces that the combat loads were corrosive, but that the army didn't consider it an issue because the soldiers were trained to clean their weapons as soon as possible after fireing and that if a weapon was damaged it was easily repaired or replaced.
  6. I have 3 German WW2 PM38/40 magazines, marked Kur 43, 98E 41, 27 40, and two green leather pebble texture mag pouches for sale. I believe the pouches might be post war Norwegian or Finnish. I will also include 5 rounds of WW2 German 9mm bullets. $300.00
  7. Thanks everyone, I found a buyer and at a good price.
  8. I think I forgot to get to the point. I was wondering what I should ask for it. I know the individual parts are worth about $2500.00 but I hate to part it out.
  9. I need to raise money to build a garage at camp. I have a MP-40 parts kit I'm thinking of selling to raise the money. It is a ayf 43. I don't believe it is all matching.
  10. I read the the famous First Special Service Force hand to hand combat instuctor Pat O'Niell used to carry a Thompson on night patrol. It sounds gruesom but he kept the gun on single, and prefered a single shot to the face to cutting throats. He claimed at close range the shot was very quiet and extremly efective. He did a lot of night patrols across enemy lines at Anzio, and never got shot or captured so it must have worked.
  11. I was reading a book about the 29th Division. It covered The division from its start as a Guard division through D-day and up to the taking of St Lo, France. One thing I found interesting was that when the division first entered the Bocage the troops were very shy about firing their weapons unnecessarily. The reason being that their powder was not smokeless and the firing would give away their positions. The author went on to say the Germans used smokeless powder so the US infantry had to locate German positions from the sound. I also believe I read some where that the US ammo was corrosive as well.
  12. "Hows Baby?", "Bayby's hungrey" A Walk in the Sun
  13. I hate to chime in here because I know someone is going to stomp the snot out of me but I can't hold back. I have purchased a few businesses in the past and this is not somthing you do with a smile and a handshake like buying a used car. When big money is involved so are lawyers, lots of lawyers. Second, if I'm buying a gun business, as in this case, I'm not buying inventory I'm buying the trademark, name, ect. Inventory is nice but if I plan on being sucessfull, the inventory should last a very short time and I must tool up and start new production. If I don't own the patents and trademark I can't. My investors, bank and their lawyers are going to be pissed. With Muguire's reputation I'm sure a lot of red flags went up I can't belive sale not was done very carefully.
  14. Check out the movie "Walk in the Sun". One of the soldiers carries a thompson I belive he named Baby. The buttstock is heavly carved.
  15. My great uncle "Will" was a machine gunner in the 2nd Marines during WW1. In his journal her refers to it as that Damn French gun and really hated it. He seemed to blame the magazine which was almost impossible to keep dirt out of. He was issued an american gun he really liked (I assume it was a BAR) but was wounded and his assistant killed right after it was issued. It was only weeks before the war ended. He does mention meeting Mrs. Wilson in a french hospital on Christmas. Walked with a limp the rest of his life.
  16. I think that's it. I had it drilled into me to keep the safty on until ready to fire. I re-read the manual yeasterday after many years and saw the notation about cocking the gun with the safty off. I wish they would have stressed it more in the manual. I just hope the firing pin doesn't need replacing. I got one from Kar a few years back and it needed a lot of fitting so I just cleaned up the burs on the old one and it worked. Maybe I can get away with it again if I replace the sear block.
  17. Lots, Ive owned this M1 since 1984. I've done the usual fix ups, polish feed ramp, springs set, GI mag lever. I finally got the firing pin to release by taking out the safty lever and triping the sear block with a small screwdriver. The bottom of the firing pin wore down the top of the original sear block and when the pin went back on recoil I guess it wasn't reseting it. I ordered a sear block from Kahr but I'm worried it won't fit because my gun was made by Auto Ord. and I find some parts are not interchangable without a lot of fitting. I hope I don't have to replace the firing pin too. I am dissapointed but not supprised this part wore out. Its a good thing I love this gun so much because I've had to do a lot of work to it. Any other would have been sold long ago.
  18. I went shooting this weekend with my Auto Ord. M1 semi auto. After about 75 rounds the gun failed to fire. I ejected the round and the primer was not hit at all. I removed the magazine and tried to dry fire it. There was no click that indicated that the trigger is not releasing the firing pin. The catch is, you can't take down the gun with the fireing pin spring compressed. I remember something like this happened a long time ago and I had to go in through the safty hole with a small screwdriver. I think the original problem was soft metal on either the bottom of the bolt or wear on the fireing pin. any sugestions?
  19. I've been watching Combat on the Action channel on cable and got really hooked. They have been showing the episodes in order and just got into the last color season. I was so into it I found the Fan site on the web and they had some interesting things there. One of the guys who was working with props answered a question regarding the weapons used in the show. He stated that they were all real and converted to fire blanks. He said they all worked well with the blanks except that Morrow's Thompson gave them a little trouble. After reading this I started watching the sarg when he was firing his Thompson. Sure enough, you see him in several scenes manaully pulling back the bolt after firing short bursts. I also noticed he would look down and check the bolt location quite often. Another interesting thing is that Rick Jason who played Lt. Henley was into guns and hunting and could not get Morrow to join him. He said Morrow didn't like guns. I also noticed that the BAR didn't sound right in the first couple seasons, to fast. But in the last it slowed down. Perhaps the sound editors speeded it up to make it more impressive.
  20. Help I was out with my Mk2 and when I got home I saw the front site was missing! anyone got one for sale?
  21. I got a kit too but I havn't installed it yet. One question, do you install buffer in front of the metal one or does it replace it? It looks like the buffer fits in front of it, but there are no instructions with the kit. If the new buffer replaces it how do you remove the guide rods? I hate to ask a dumb question but this is an area where I don't want to make a mistake.
  22. I just hope they don't make a mess of it like Thin Red Line. Talk about hollywood taking a story and totaly running away with it. Miller got a little wierd but nothing like the movie writers. I went with my father in law, a pacific and Korea vet, and we were both totaly disgusted. I have very little good to say about Windtalkers too. In both cases they paid good attention to detail, weapons ect but the storys sucked, and thats what really counts.
  23. I'm still interested Too, I do have gorila arms but when I want a work out Ill do somthing else.
