Nineteenhundred replied to Nineteenhundred's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
I found some pictures in another thread that answered my question. It seems to be correct. -
I need a grip frame from a 1928. It does not need to be in good shape cosmetically and I dont need internal parts. Thanks.

Feed Ramp/chamber/bolt Pic Request?
Nineteenhundred replied to Gloftoe's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
IMA sells thompson "nose" demills. They call them receiver fronts. Follow this if it works, otherwise go to their site and search Thompson. http://www.ima-usa.com/advanced_search_res...n_description=1 -
Does anyone know on what types of machines the original Thompsons were made? I wonder what all the operations were. It must have been very complicated in comparison with todays automated machines. Also why do the old ones seem to be so much better in quality and finish and detail when we have much better machines? How did they do it?

Wtb: Mag Release
Nineteenhundred replied to Nineteenhundred's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
Ive found one. Thanks all. -
Anyone have a magazine release for sale, model not important as long as it functions with standard mags. Im not looking for collector grade, just need usable condition. I need a spring also.

It would be interesting to know how they got it to work with such a short bolt,....if indeed it does work.

Does anyone have a nose piece for sale. It needs to have complete barrel threads and feed ramp. Complete with threaded ejector hole would be nice too. Thanks.

I did mean that the 80% rcvrs couldnt be finished to FA specs by us regular folks. My thinking was that they make semi 1919 rcvrs with original rcvrs except for a different right side plate with semi bolts and trigger parts, so why not a semi 1928 with a 80% rcvr milled for the semi parts. It would probably require someone to do it and submit to ATFE for plan approval. I am not a machinist, nor do I have any parts to measure to see if it is even a possibility. I was just reading old posts and thinking of possibilities. Thinkin dont cost nothin.
