This event takes place in Newark, Ohio, usually during the 3rd or 4th weekend (Friday and Saturday) in July. The 25th annual All Thompson Show and Shoot was held July 22-23, 2016. The event starts on Friday, and includes member displays, a new member session, a lecture and/or show and tell session, annual Board of Directors meeting, followed by a range safety meeting for the shoot on Saturday. Saturday events include a Thompson target shooting competition at ranges from 50 yards, down to 7 yards, as well as a steel shoot, where two shooters engage an arrangement of 5 steel pepper poppers each in a two of three elimination match, bracketed down to a final match winner. A free shoot is also featured, followed by a banquet Saturday evening, and a final couple of hours at the Thompson member display site. TATA often participates in collector displays at the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits, which are held in cities around the country each spring. TATA has won the NRA "Best Display" trophy for its displays 6 times since 2006, and its displays are consistently the top draw among the collector displays presented to the many tens of thousands of attendees. TATA has also displayed multiple times at the Michigan Antique Arms Association, and the Ohio Gun Collectors Association, and key elements of TATA displays have been featured at meetings of the American Society of Arms Collectors (ASAC) by TATA members who are also members of ASAC.
  2. Gents, This is my thought only and have not asked permission to post this but.... In years past itI was very easy to let folks shoot each others guns etc, but this year with ammo and reloading supplies in the bizarre category, I highly recommend folks bring EXTRA factory, non steel cased ammo if you intend to shoot someone else's guns. I would also encourage you to bring not only 45 ACP, but also 9mm as well at a minimum. There will usually be other guns there to shoot but it would be nice when asking to shoot someone's gun, that you have a box of ammo in your hand ready to go. I'm sure some folks like COLT Chopper probably disagree and he will provide you with all the ammo you want to shoot!! Semper Fi, Sandman1957
  3. I'm confused about the American Thompson Association's website. When I search for it on Google, I see the page at http://www.nfatoys.com/tsmg/tata/Default.htm. It's certainly talking about the right organization, but it doesn't seem to have had an update since 2013. I can see on this board that the organization is certainly still active. Does it have a web presence somewhere else? Thanks in advance for any info! Bob Bethune Pinckney, MI
  4. Greetings fellow Thompson enthusiasts: I am posting information and the application for the 25th Annual All Thompson Show and Shoot to be held July 22 and 23rd, 2016 in Granville, Ohio. Tracie Hill and his family graciously sponsor this annual event where you will see some the nicest Thompson Submachine Gun collections in the United States. This is the 25th year that the Hill's have hosted this event. If you are a Thompson enthusiast and don't even own a gun you are welcome to attend. Even if your membership has lapsed or you aren't currently a member of The American Thompson Association you can fill out the attached registration form and add a line stating "New TATA Membership Dues" ($40.00) and send the completed form to Tracie Hill at the address shown in the application. I would encourage all members of this board, new and old, to attend the 25th Anniversary Show and Shoot and display their collections. Novice Thompson collectors will discover a wealth of information about the Thompson Submachine Gun and will enjoy meeting other members that share their fascination with the most recognizable firearm ever developed. The Saturday morning shoot is a great time as well as the fast and furious "Steel Plate" competition that always draws a lot of excellent shooters. There is also a "free shoot" on Saturday afternoon where members are always willing to allow others without a Thompson to shoot one for the first time. It is a great weekend to share "Thompson talk" with fellow enthusiasts and you will meet several of the authors of the respected and informative Thompson books that have been published in the past few years. Please complete the attached form to reserve your spot at The American Thompson Association 25th Annual Show and Shoot this July, you won't regret it. It is important that the Hills get a count for food and beverages and tables for displays. If you are even thinking about going please get your reservation in ASAP. Sincerely, Chuck Schauer President 2016 TATA Show and Shoot Information & Schedule.pdf
