I've had a TM1 Thompson Carbine by Khar since 2016 and I only recently sent in a Form 1 to SBR it. The Form 1 is approved, but I still haven't gotten a barrel for it yet or figured out who I want to help with the barrel swap. I just had a quick question as to what barrels are compatible with it or which ones would be the best for an accurate Thompson M1A1 reproduction? I also thought I heard that Khar changed the threads on their barrels so that they will not work with USGI barrels. Is there a difference between a barrel for a semi-auto Thompson vs. a full-auto Thompson? Any help would be appreciated.

I own a Savage 1928a1, manufactured in September 1942. It's a complete, original gun. I use it as a shooter, and frequently partner with local firearms organizations to make it available for fundraisers, etc. (somewhat like a "rent-a-gun" but in this instance it's "make a donation to the org being supported" and you can run a mag or two through it). So far we've raised around 20K for Friends of the NRA, The One Team One Fight org, the Navy Seal Foundation, and the Special Forces Foundation. Because of this it probably has had 25K - 35K+ rounds put through it. When cleaning it recently, the barrel seems as if it is getting larger.... I now use bore brushes for .50 cals and have to stack up 3 patches up on the .45 cal jag in order for them to reasonably snug when going through the bore. In looking at the rifling it appears to be fairly worn, so I'm thinking that it may be time for a new barrel. It still shoots fairly well though. Prior to my purchasing it, it appears that someone used a pipe wrench to try to remove the comp, and it has some marks on each side from the wrench jaws. I'm interested in obtaining a NOS barrel and comp that would be correct for a September 1942 mfg Savage. This gun is a shooter - not a safe queen - but since it is all original other than shooting it I don't want to do anything to diminish it's value or authenticity. Paul Krogh will most likely perform the rebarrel, but he is out of NOS barrels and I'd like to keep it original. Can anybody suggest some good sources for a replacement barrel? Mine is not finned. Thanks much. Scott

David has given me permission to sell my leftovers from the '27A1 remodel. I ended up buying stuff and then finding other stuff I liked better so I ended up with some duplicate and extra stuff. The following will include shipping in the price. I will try to have pics of all included in the next couple of days. I can be reached by PM here or my email is: ss327@comcast.net I will take paypal, money orders and personal checks (item send when funds clear) I just wanted to give the members here a crack at parts before I list them somewhere else. I think these prices are ok but if someone more knowledgeable thinks something is too high please let me know. I don't want to be "that guy"... MEN, I AM IN NEED OF AN ORIGINAL BUT NEW (UNUSED) ORIGINAL BARREL FOR A THOMPSON M1 AND ALSO THE SIGHT AND SIGHT PIN. I HAVE A DEWAT M1 WHICH FELL INTO THE CATEGORY THAT PERMITTED ME TO SEEK AND OBTAIN ATF APPROVAL TO RETURN IT TO FULL AUTO FIRE. I WANT TO BE SURE THAT THE BARREL IS SUITABLE IN BOTH THE SENSE OF AUTHENTICITY AND FULL AUTO FIRE. THIS GUN WILL BE USED AND FIRED EXTENSIVELY. CAN ANYONE ADVISE ON A RELIABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY SOURCE FOR THESE BARRELS?? THANK YOU. LE LONGUE CARABINE 731-784-4118

Has anyone here shortened the barrel and permenately attached the cutts compensator for an overall length of 16.5 inches? if so, was it worth the time and expense? Are ther any recomendations for a gunsmith to do the work? I have a 90s vintage West Hurley in its stock barrel configuration and I'm wondering it this modification is worth my time. I really don't want to go the SBR route with this gun, so I thought this would be a reasonable alternative. Here is a picture of my gun. I plan to use it in Zoot shooting matches and just general fun. any insight will be appreciated!
