    Looking for info to establish when Browning changed the wording on the receiver on the ‘WW1 manufactured’. B A Rs. I’ve done a little research on Winchester manufactured guns (Colt and Marlin - Rockwell were the other two WW1 manufacturers) and I’ve found that the early guns we’re stamped ‘Browning Machine Rifle’ with the later ones being stamped ‘Browning Automatic Rifle’ Pictured are 2 receiver stamps serial numbers 101417 and 103990 showing the different wording. So the wording changed some time during the manufacture of the next 2573 guns IF they ran sequentially given that Winchester produced 47123 guns with assigned serial numbers 64001 - 200000 so there were gaps. Be really good to know the actual serial number that had the first revised stamp on the Winchester guns. Does anyone know if the Colt and Marlin - Rockwell had similar changes. Thanks JD

    I've been troubleshooting some issues with my WWII MP40 that involve sloppy fitting of the lower parts. I purchased a complete MP-40 lower receiver. This resolved my problems. My question is about the different serial numbers on all the various parts. My understanding is that the original serial number on the tube is the only one that counts. I'm still a little uneasy, especially how the unmatching serial number on the rear is so conspicious. Do you think this presents any legal problem? I don't expect legal advice, but just want your opinions. Thanks

    New to the MachineGun Boards, and this is my first post. I have a chance to buy a Auto Ordance Thompson Model 1928, it has a 4 digit serial number 17XX and the numbers just don't look right to me. The numbers look like they were hand stamped. Does anyone have any pictures of early 1928 serail numbers that they could post. The weapon is blued and comes with several 20 and 30 round stick magazines, 2 50 round drums, and a 100 rd drum. The 50 rd drum magazines are correctly marked (L) and not sure of the markings on the 100 round drum. I will post some more information and hopefully some pictures next week. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Is there any particular serial number run with wh1928s that run better....or worse than others. I was told there is a serial number range that is known for it s problems and I was wondering what the range might be.
