shadycon
Do you think an M1a1 stock is worth $1700.00? One just sold on GB and it was cracked and butchered up. Someone tryed to carve it out to put in M2 parts. What a waste.

shadycon
Don't know how to do links, but it was auction # 131616222-Gunbroker.

I don't see why that stock went for so much unless two with less than the required amount of common sense got into a bidding war. That stock while complete is really not in all that good of condition. If had a carbine in it maybe it would be worth the bid price.
shadycon
That is the same thing I was thinking. When I bought mine [$800] it was a complete gun[inland-1st run]. Nice wood and no cracks. But some idiot tryed to carve it out for M2 parts. I was able to repair the internal damage and make a nice gun out of it.Gene K

The 2 or three that I examined were modified to M2 by carving with a knife. I never thought of the pilots as idiots. I thought of them as realistic survivealists. My only gripe was ,I couldn't get one of them to part with the gun. Jim C

shadycon
As for my comment "idiot" I wasn't thinking about military personnel modifying to make M2's.I was thinking about John Q Public messing up a nice piece of history.Sorry!
