Thompson Guns And Mag On Sturmgewehr

Recommended Posts

There are some recent posts on sturmgewehr that caught my eye. the first one is for a patent date mag--the seller wants $550.

The second post is for a 1921A--3 digit serail number gun and for a 1927 semi auto carbine. the seller is asking $34,995 for the 1921 and $49,995 for the 1927.

The 1921A does not have the correct buttstock (looks like a 28 buttstock) and from the pictures, it looks like the gun does not have much of the original blueing left and has some pitting and some rust too.

is it just me or is this somewhat overpriced for the current market given the condition of the gun?

The 1927 looks like a very fine gun, but were these guns fetching even close to this figure at the peak a couple of years back?

I guess we will all get an idea of where the market is settling as these two guns work their way through the market.

I bet they will be on the market awhile. Neither gun comes with accessories for those prices??

DD Guns recently sold a 21 for less than asking price, I wonder what the real number is on these?. I'd say at least a 10% haircut, maybe more.

As always, all it takes is a motivated buyer, personally I'd like see the market inch up again.

But that won't happen till Obama quits fiddling with the free market, cuts taxes and starts to work on the ballooning deficit! Fat chance on that?

Seems high on all the items. As for the 27A, I spoke to Tracie Hill back in '06 to find out an approximate value of mine, and he said one had just sold for 40k that was in decent condition and original. In today's market, I would guess somewhere around 35k would be more appropriate. Just my .02

Wow, I can not believe that a Patent Date XX Magazine has ever even sold for half that asking price.

I foolishly clicked on it thinking it coud be a shot mag....silly me, what a great deal!

"Near mint original bluing"? Looks like it was used to prop open a door....

Just like the "Near springtime conditions" I enjoyed shoveling out from today....

haha well put! That global warming won't shovel itself!

I agree with the rest of you, I think those numbers are a few thousand too high. I guess you can't blame them for trying.....

Hello, all.

The '27 is a rare piece for the "advanced collector", so I wouldn't say that it's over-priced. It's just expensive. :banghead:

It's that how-bad-do-you-need-the-money-thingy. I don't know about the rest of you, but I wouldn't sell any of my guns for less than a half mil, unless I NEEDED the money. If this person is in need of cash, the price will come down.

I'd pay this for the '27, but I think I'll buy myself an army tank, so I can get to the unemployment office during the "new ice age". Anybody got one of those for sale? MUST INCLUDE FREE SHIPPING!

I'm glad I'm not an "Advanced Collector".
