Bruce V 21/28
Guess I'm the first to post on this board. I had posted this to the old board; thought I would try it here. The stock on my M-3 won't lock in place. Any ideas on whats wrong? The stock collapses when the gun is fired and when even firm pressure is applied. doug hollberg
Bruce. there is a pinned collar holding the stock catch (release/retainer spindle) and spring in place. If the spring has broken or collapsed, you can remove the pin and collar and replace the spring. If the round contour of the stock catch spindle or the collar that also engages the stock is worn down, you can replace or build up the contour to hold the stock. I have seen a bent stock catch shaft. Also observed a M3-A1 stock that had notches cut out of spec. The rods were parallel and at right angles to the butt section, but the detents for the stock latch were out of line by almost .25" and caused the stock to slip. Hope this helps.
