DTD
CUSTOM-BUILT SEMI AUTOMATIC THOMPSON IN MINT CONDITION FOR SALE: This is the "PROJECT X" rifle comissioned by LIONHART and was over a year in the the making. To quote LIONHART: "This rifle was the first of it's kind and while others have been built, none that I know of have been completed with as much attention to detail and work as Project "X". Following is a listing of the parts & labor that went into the project: RECEIVER The Receiver used is a new KHAR 1927A1 Drum divots were milled into the Receiver for easier Drum installation; the inside of the Receiver was smoothed up; the area where the Extractor slides through was re-machined; the throat ramp polished, and an early Savage flat Ejector was used. The Bolt was polished, and the front shank was nickel plated to appear like a two piece bolt. The Receiver was modified so that depressing the frame latch allows the Frame to slide off without the use of a tool. An original Grip Mount was installed with a 1/2" barrel pad. A Doug Richardson '21 style bolt handle was installed. An original Lyman rear sight with special step rivets was installed. FRAME The Frame is a 1928 TSMG frame from Gun Parts Co. The Frame was modified to fit the Receiver and serial numbered to match the Receiver. A unique Bolt-Lock device for inserting and removing drums was developed and is very simple to use: A full auto Fire Control Selector and Pivot Plate was installed, and the frame was engraved with "Lock" and "Unlock". To insert a drum, move the selector to "Lock" and pull the bolt back to lock it to the rear. To unlock, move the selector to "Unlock" and draw the bolt back and let go! No third hand is needed. Other features on the frame are the control levers: 1. The Magazine Catch is identical to a '21. It is a 1928 model, the hole was welded up and checkered. The Catch was also modified to accept unmodified original TSMG magazines. 2. The Safety is a WW2 Savage 1928 model. A hole was added and checkered identical to a '21. 3. The Rocker Pivot is also a Savage 1928, checkered identical to a '21 The Frame also features a quick-detatchable Stock - just press the release button and the Stock slides off. BARREL The Barrel was made from a new smooth M1 Semi Barrel. It was contoured identical to a '21. The Compensator was squared up in keeping with the '21 look, with all markings removed. It features a '21 style Doug Richardson front sight, and the proper retaining pin. The Compensator was moved OVER the barrel to create a shorter look. STOCK & GRIPS The Stock is an early WW2 no-crossbolt straight grained walnut which appears just like a Colt '28 stock, as both have a sling swivel. The Buttplate is a new-in-government-wrap dated 1942 and did not need refinishing - the finish is 100%. The new tight grain custom grips have the same appearance as Colt '21 wood, and match the stock in color & grain. FINISHES The gun's metal surfaces are finished in a stunning low gloss Black Oxide over a bead blasted surface. The wood finish is a beautiful satin oil. ACCESSORIES Included are: 1 - new 50 rd. Khar Drum 5 - 20 rd. magazines re-finished along with, and matching the gun's finish. 2 - 30 rd magazines [surplus - original blued finish]. HISTORY This Thompson was originally the pet project [Project "X"] of Forum Member LionHart, and was finished in October, 2004. Most of the mechanical work, modifications, and finishing was done by two of the most highly regarded Thompson Specialists: Paul Krogh [PK] at Diamond K, and Damon at Tommygunner.com. I purchased the gun from LionHart upon completion, and it was and is true PERFECTION! The gun has had approximately 100 rds through it, and is in the same Mint Condition as the day I received it. No expense was spared in building this unique gun, and the cost today to do all of the above work to this level of detail & craftsmanship [parts, labor, & accessories] would run well over $4000.00 PRICE: $ 3000.00 plus shipping to your FFL Dealer

Gio
It is a great looking gun. It's a shame when the work was being done they didn't make a short barrelled rifle by putting a 101/2 barrell that would have made this a great gun. Good luck in selling Frank

Good luck in selling Frank It's not difficult to SBR one. I did it, and PK added an interchangeable barrel feature. I have SMG barrels for 1921A and 1921 AC (with comp) configs. You can also get a dummy SMG length barrel for display if you don't want -or can't get-the tax stamp.

DTD
I'm glad that the gun was sold to a MachineGunBoards member. I will leave the post in place so the pictures can be viewed by anyone contemplating a similar "Project". LionHart sure did a fantastic job on this rifle - I hated to part with it!
