OCM
Was reading the post by the guy reporting about the dig at the Capone house. The original Dillinger farm is in Mooresville, Indiana- Yes, been there about 6 times. The Great nephew now lives there, has for quite a few years now. His intentions was to slowly restore it to the days when his famous uncle John lived there. Has some stuff same doors doorknobs, few family pieces of furniture. John's room was upstairs, the old steep farmhouse stairs. His dad would make him leave his Thompson at the foot of the stairs, leaning against this little backdrop. When they were upgrading the house, they had to get under the crawl space to run electricity. He said it was nasty. However they ran into a statch of old license plates, mainly from the area, 1933, 1934. HMMMM, wonder who put them there? They were kind enough to loan me a set to use on the Dillinger Essex I had. Pretty cool. The plate was never used on this particiular car, but fun anyway. ( would of been 1934, this was Indiana 1933 , but at least the car was a 1933 too ) . A very popular thing to do ( NOT ME ) is dig the old outhouse holes. These were used as the garbage dump besides the obvious. To my knowledge this hasn't been done there. There are stories of finding guns, money all sorts of treasure in these " honey holes " No thanks. OCM

If we ever meet, face to face & I hope we do, don't feel bad if I don't shake your hand.Professional courtesy I have with outhouse diggers. Good luck- OCM PS: by the way I have a couple original photos of the Dillinger farm from 1933 & 1934 showing the woodshed off the kitchen and outhouse locations- Please feel free to ask for these locational photos. OCM
HAAAAAAAAAAAA I hope not. He probably took a gun with him and a new copy of Master Detective- Possibly he dropped a 38 Super in there ( gun ) and left it.See what Mr. Albert comes up with.He & Billie Frechette actually stopped by there more then people know ( the family told me this BTW ) . I imagine she was impressed with country living, especially in the winter months. OCM

Bridgeport28A1
Just so no one gets their hopes up...My reference to digging up the Dillinger farm latrine was in jest... David Davids, I knew a construction worker (Pile Driver) up here in Minnesota that excavated old outhouse "holes" as a recreational activity. He used a long metal rod to locate the outhouse location since they all had disappeared from the city locations he did his "digs" in. He usual could size up a backyard and have a pretty good idea where they had stood. The picture of the "Dillinger" outhouse standing would simplify things. If someone does the "dig", pictures are a must. Ross Edited May 30, 2012 by Bridgeport28A1
darrylta
I'd recommend using a backhoe / excavator.I build treatment plants for a living andseem to always be in the s-it -Darryl

David AH Shoot, I thought you were serious, damn. I guess I'll shake your hand now- I knew you were kidding ! Through the years the family has had many trespassers, looking for treasures. I'm affraid if you too a backhoe up there, you'd get to spend sometime in the country jail. ( you could request Crown Point for historical reasons ) but might get the nuthouse instead.Jeff is a lawyer by trade, so knows the ropes too.
