OCM
New book just out called Run Rabbit Run about Edna The Kissing Bandit, writen by her granddaughter and what it was like running around with the Barkers, Dillinger, Karpis, Volney Davis and others. It gives a real view of what it was like as a bandit in the 1930s, not the typical romantic Bonnie & Clyde thinking. Edna Murray escaped from prison 3 times, lived with Volney Davis, robbed, ran, was nick- named Rabbit . Married like 7 times.Big book, lots of words. Interest here was after the Little Bo battle Dillinger and two others ended up living with Edna and Davis for 3 days till Gang member Hamilton died of a gun wound. She said Dillinger had steel eyes, was jittery, kept a Thompson on his lap at all times and wasn't pleasant to be around.... creepy type guy. The Thompson would of been # 7387 ( probably)

jim c 351
OCM, "kept a Thompson on his lap at all times." I didn't realize that there was something wrong in doing this. I guess I'd better cut it out. Jim C Edited July 22, 2013 by jim c
OCM
Jim- Didn't say anything was wrong with it. Just normal for folks like you & me. I do admit, don't take it in the bathroom, in the morning, after coffee. Well, maybe only 15 times. There, I said it. Haaaaa. Don't know why Dillinger would be freaking out, hell he owned # 7387, a great gun with history, worth a lot of $$$ . These guys weren't Rhodes scholars . jim c 351
OCM, My having watched the Bob Newhart show for years, I believe I have great insight into the psychology of the Dillinger mind. Johnny had, what we call today, a high stress job. Like all to many people, even today, Johnny sometimes brought his problems home with him. I must correct you on one of your comments. J.D. was considered the Rhodes scholar of bank robbers. I hope this helps. Jim C

OCM
My Outlaw library is long gone, packed in a warehouse in DC somewhere now. Had some real nice old stuff from the 30s, good fresh news stuff like all the True Detective type magazines and books written quickly just after Dillinger's death, then again in the 60s after the Beatty film. Helmer told be a couple weeks ago, they are releasing his book again, with updates. When ? But another buy for me. Pam has a nice book out, a little dry in places, but great new stuff.or we might need a "Bookmobile" forum...
Mike Hammer
Got to get this book, thanks for the lead. After the Little Bohemia raid, John must have been squirmin, a close call there. It probably lead to his having the plastic surgery. Still can't understand his ballsiness at walking around Chicago like he owned the place, he should of laid low and went to Argentina. OCM
Most people/historians agree, this may have prolonged his life, " that can't be John Dillinger " . I think luck had more to do with it, then intelligence. ( god forbid I said that ). Haaaaaa 14 months of bank robberies, fast cars, money, Billie Frechette, Thompson shoot-outs, car chases, knowing the likes of Baby Face Nelson, Tons of free cash, mockery of law enforcement, movies & books about you and urban legend of the largest male member since Johnny Holmes.................. Worth it ??- Lot of asked that question. Got to get this book, thanks for the lead. After the Little Bohemia raid, John must have been squirmin, a close call there. OCM
At this time my book is only available by ordering a signed copy from me for $25 at: Pam Tippet, 1502 Drake Rd., Sallisaw, Ok 74955 - Or you may order from my e-store: https://www.createspace.com/4092403 This gives an over view on the book and where to get it direct. The Dillinger family has a manuscript out, but not published yet, another good one probably, I've seen part of it, family photos never scene before. Good stories about his Thompson and how the family felt about it when home for visits... Hope it happens. Edited July 26, 2013 by OCM
