jim c 351
The American Rifleman magazine had a informative article on FBI long guns. The article starts with the Colt Thompson in 1934 and ends with the Colt M4 5.56 m/m carbine. Its ironic that so many police departments look to the FBI when it comes to firearms choices, while the FBI stumbles around in the dark and finally settles on the same firearm that the US Army adapted in 1967, except that the majority are semi only.Under the heading of bureaucratic stupidity, the FBI destroyed most of their Thompsons in 1971, and then to their surprise discovered they didn't have a SMG to take TSMG's place. So,--they borrowed Grease Guns from the military and bought some MAC 10.Our premier law enforcement agency!! REALLY!!Jim C
smkummer
In 1971 political correctness was not even a phase then but was adhered to. Then there was a period where it appeared correct to say it. Now its a joke to even say the phase. Every govt. agency acts as if it has a "higher power" to adhere to. So what ever climate is in the head shed brings about its agenda and the feces rolls down hill. Its no wonder that people that leave a govt. career have a little bit of adjustment to do in the world that has to meet a bottom line. I was talking to some people at FLETC that were employed during the Carter years and they told me of a time where they were burning sniper M1 garands thrown into a big fire along with grease guns and other firearms. A few years ago a quantity of grease guns and early M16s were destroyed at Aniston. Our tax dollars at work.
