timkel
Do you have a registered tube?
Duce0811
I have submitted my form 1 to the ATF and I am currently waiting on approval before I can Manufacture one.
Duce0811
Mine will be, I guess what you all refer to as a tube gun. Probably not be as valuable as an original, but the quality will be better than original.
Duce0811
Question? My trigger group was not welded with tabs. The welds were located inside the trigger group. It made for a better appearance. I will be going back the same way. My question is, was this a common practice?

Duce0811
Should I expect there will be issues with the ATF?
timkel
Should I expect there will be issues with the ATF?Well, if your just an individual submitting a Form 1 to register a new MG tube, that book closed in 1986. I hope you succeed. If your a manufacturer, you know the process to register a postie.
Duce0811
Thanks for the info. So really the only way to finish this project is to find a tube that has already been registered.
anticus
For an MG , yes. And they are out there, but the price is often close to what a compleate gun would be. You can still make an SBR (Short Barrel Rifle) on a Form 1, as long as it's semi-auto and fires from a closed bolt.
Duce0811
Thanks for the info. Where is the best place to look for a tube? I guess I can expect to get a no go from the ATF then on my form 1.
timkel
If building Sten MKII what you want to do, that's a nice looking parts kit you have. Find a registered tube and proceed with build. As noted above, you won't save any $$ by buying a tube and assembling with your MKII parts kit. The reason is that builders can use the same registered tube to build a Sterling SMG. The British Sterling is a more modern SMG that gets a higher price in the marketplace.
