I know this has been posted sometime in the past, but I visited the West Point Military Museum today. I wanted to see "The Persuader," original prototype Thompson Submachine Gun. The photos are hard to take with the glass in the way. The one photo that is a partial of the gun was taken with my camera phone pressed up against the glass. The sign indicates it was donated by George Numrich. Anyway, here's what I saw. I'll post some more photos of the rest of the museum when I can.

We attended a wedding at the USMA West Point Club last night. Excellent venue, and a good time was had by all…

David,

Great photo's, that museum will have to be on the list of places for me to visit sometime in the future.

Thanks for posting these, David. That's very cool. Does anyone know how did the belt feed mechanism that the placard talked about worked?

The ammunition was cloth belted, and held within a drum. The drum is not on display, and I wonder whether it may not have survived with the gun. Tracie has some information in TUTB about how it fed, which involved a spur wheel and ratchet drive. The drum mounted to the frame that extends below the open trigger guard. and completed the trigger guard when mounted.
