gunhistorian
Back before the machine gun ban, Tom Nelson (possibly doing business as Omega Arms, then)was promoting a .308/7.62-mm NATO or 5.56-mm version of the MG-42. Can't remember which caliber this was offered in. I think it was made in Spain, possibly by CETME and was smaller than the MG-42 clones produced by other countries. I was wondering if these were ever imported and any sold in the U.S. of A.? Anyone have one? I also remember the attempted importation of Swedish K-guns that could only fire blanks, but ATFD, at that time BATF, put a stop into their importation and sale under the allegation that these could be "easily converted" to fire ball ammo. Geez! Government really seems to do its best to put a stop to all the fun in life! Alcohol (in the "Dry" experiment), tobacco (being taxed -- like Class 3 stuff so most can't afford it anymore), firearms. . . Sigh!
johnsonlmg41
Cetme Ameli. there are post samples here, no transferables and I've never heard of a pre-may, but it's possible?. There is talk of possibly a semi coming to market, but mostly talk only. There were a couple versions, all in 5.56 using SAW links, belt boxes, etc. . I've seen them and while they look cosmetically like a 42, they are quite a bit different in reality. One was two piece that broke down fairly small.
