Introduction and question about cocking handle damaging receiver

Recommended Posts

The video shows the gun running well in excess of 600-700 RPM. Also, recoil appears severe by comparison with the STENS I have fired. Lightening the bolt increases bolt speed, and if the spring is not balanced, will result in battering of the rear of the receiver. STEN tubes are not typically made from "great" steel, so damage can be injurious as well. ( you can get hurt) The STEN should run around 600 RPM with "normal parts" . It is not clear to me from my brief read what you are trying to accomplish with the lightened parts. Are you after a high rate of fire ? Best way to do that is to leave the bolt weight at standard, and install a travel limiting buffer that will allow the bolt to only go far enough to the rear to eject and load . You can use a little trial and error to establish that.

Ok,

Standard disclaimer: Don't do this. It is only mentioned for conversational entertainment.

For faster, (I don't do this but my friends do), get an old screen door closer. Cut it open and remove the spring. This spring will get things running faster with a standard weight bolt. On the other hand, with light loads, the gun will easily run away.

Editorial: I like my Stens in factory stock configuration.

Enjoy,
