anjong-ni
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=548476787 From G/B, not mine. A trio of Thompsons. Notice that this early West Hurley 1927 came with a military adjustable Lyman sight. And an unusual cocking handle slot...Phil
06AngusSG
That must be the early WH slot I've read about where you can pull up on the actuator in the small hole and it will keep the bolt locked in the rearward position.Someone please correct me if I'm wrong? anticus
That's true, It was an early feature, but kind of a PIA to use.
Merry Ploughboy
That's true, It was an early feature, but kind of a PIA to use. From what I've read, potentially hazardous as well. Apparently the cocking knob would not always firmly latch into the notch, and if the knob jumped out of the notch when the user had their finger on the trigger, an inadvertent discharge could occur. That said, I have never heard of it happening or even if someone has actually tried to see if an inadvertent discharge would occur. Zamm
Ya - that's an early West Hurley. Mine (1975) had the same pain in the butt pull-up to lock the bolt open. Also chewed up the edges around the slot. When I sent the piece back to West Hurley for them to fix some issues, it came back with the mag - lock update. The 20 round mag that came with it had the follower milled down so the bolt did not slam into it, but rode over it and pushed it down a bit when it was empty...
