New Numrich 100 Round Drums

Recommended Posts

I was considering ordering one to add to my Gordon Herigstad viola case, for display purposes, but Numrich won't ship outside of the USA, such is life. :( :(

cant you find someone here to get it for you and ship it to you?

toss someone $100 extra for the trouble and im sure someone would grab it for you to help you out..

Wouldn't that require an export license? I don't know for sure, but would check before doing it. Could that be why Numrich will not send it?

That is Plan B.

Not sure about the export licence though.

A colleague in Houston bought a repro P08 snail drum magazine a few years back, sent it onto me and it arrived OK, he did not have a licence as he was sending me a 'gift'.

A good way to make a reservation in the Bar Hotel and lose all your gun rights.

I don't agree with the strict ITAR laws, but I don't mess around with felonies.

Curl,

Indeed you are correct and I would not wish to impose that upon anyone, so I will just leave that space in my Gordon Herigstad Viola case empty.

can you ship it in parts?

seems stupid that a magazine is not legal...but then again we had a 10 round mag limit 20+ years ago.....

Better to leave 'sleeping dogs lie', than to open a vipers nest, as Curl correctly pointed out...

I'll concentrate on raising funds to pay the shipping costs for a Gordon Herigstad "Colt Thompson Serial numbers" book set, rather than a C Drum :-)

There is always something else to spend our 'spare cash'.

Aren't they built in Taiwan... shouldn't there be a way to get one from there without having it pass through the US?

Evening Dan,

As these are marked "GPC W. Hurley, NY.", I guess Numrich had them produced to order.

Even if I did find the manufacturers details, I am sure they would not be interested in selling to an individual, they'll be looking for large orders I am sure.

It would have been nice to own one, but it is not the end of the world.

Well, got to range early this morning. Made sure the rotor turned smooth and looked at the lanes where the bullets slide and didn't see any where it's rubbing the top cover. Then I put thin layer of graphite in it. Reinstalled original spring that came with my Thompson 28'. Oiled firearm appropriately and l loaded the drum, wound it to 17 clicks. Slide the drum into slots. Pulled the trigger and "I did my first 100 round mag dump" happy as I could be, slide the mag off the gun. (smiling like hell) and never shot it again! I shot the other guns I brought the rest of the time. I have shot many rounds so far through this Thompson and the only problems I have had with anything was the C drum. Now functioning great.

Had a good day!

Had some time to look over and grease one of the new C drums. I am impressed with the quality of this drum. Injecting grease into the rotor was routine. I look forward to testing the drum when I get a chance.

First pic is just the drum

Second pic is of the rotor after Injecting the grease. You know the cavity is full when the grease starts coming out at the stakes.

The Numrich C drum arrived this morning. The fit and finish is good. The drum fits the gun perfectly. The cover fits the pan correctly and the key fits and locks like an original. The rotor is well formed , especially the tips - the rotors in the West Hurley Cs were crap by comparison. This one winds and spins without dragging or scraping. If it "unwinds" as good on the range - we have a winner!

These photos would make a nice addition to the "Thompson Box And Drum Magazine Guide" pinned post.

Took my GPC 100 round drum to range today. Wound 15 clicks all three times. First try- shooting 2 and 3 round bursts = flawless. Second try - 100 round non-stop dump = flawless. Third try- 2 & 3 round bursts for half of the drum and then non-stop dump = flawless.

Happy customer with big grin.

i like the box it came in....i really dont think many people are going to use this very often...i plan on trying it again to verify it works perfectly...then box it up and store it...maybe shoot it every 5 years to show off....there really is no purpose to it other than to say you own one

ill tell you this.............when i blasted it off everyone at the range stopped and watched.....

Now all you guys need is a nice engraver to do some old style markings on the plates with serial of the gun you own on it.

And nobody will tell me nobody thought of doing that already. Like the old 20's style markings. Since it won't be resold till you are long gone who would care, And it would make the drum even look better.

I gave Brian that idea on drums years ago. when he had the fifties done in Taiwan. So I guess they finally got around to it.

He has a nice MP-44 on his office wall he bought from me awhile back..He is always traveling and importing and selling great items. Everything is normally done in the 1,000 or more batch.

So I am sure they have at least a 1,000 or more to sell now.Had the first batch of fifty rounders he sent me awhile back. Before all that markings bug a boo and marked "Crosby" They worked perfectly... glad everybody enjoyed them. THEY WORK!

  • 1 month later...

Found a "Thompson SMG 100 round drum magazine,1920 dated", being sold by a dealer in the UK.

Top dollar for a reproduction, but I guess it is supply and demand  .
