Speeddemon02
IIRC all these were registered MGs, the way I am reading the GB listing, it is like an unregistered DIAS
Merry Ploughboy
Stemple built some conversion kits. Serial numbers started with BA-GG xxI think that's called a Broadhead Armory firing pin conversion; hence, the BA serial number. From what I've read, BA sold 25 of them. Which is not to say that Stemple was not the individual who actually made them. MHO, YMMV, etc.
colt21a
I always like to see all kinds of metal go for crazy money.. like sears with a piece of paper for $30 grand... Remember the days of guys hawking them for $500 bucks. And many said for 5 bucks worth of metal no way in hell. Now today they clamor like a food starved beast to pay $30 grand and more. I had just installed a G trigger group into a retro Colt M16A1 the other day. cost $175 bucks. We took to the range and everybody there said the guy has a full auto 16 how cool.. I said nope a 2500 buck Replica.on the cheap.. they had to inspect to see it was not.and another buddy brought along his shorty post sample to shoot another $1,000.00 classic. Yes a time machine back to old prices ha ha..even some that have H&K samples won't abuse and use them much anymore. They have gone the posty route. Since the PRE'S bring in over ten grand now. My that Worm has turned...enjoy the good stuff. Colt 21aRon
firearm
I must be getting old because I remember when drop in sears were $50 a pop. I would go to buy a collection out and there were always a couple of DIAS in the deal. $200 kisses on each one. I always hated eating those deals. The last time I bought a bunch of DIAS was from John Stemple. 90 of them in one bag. BTW, John Stemple was Broadhead Armory. John got crossed up with BATF way back whenever and they took all of his stuff. Never charged him with anything. Just took everything. Years later I heard he got his stuff back. ATF just came up and tossed everything on the front porch. I bought a ton of stuff from him but had to pay something like $22,000 in tax stamps because he would not renew his SOT. For $22,000 I called ATF and got overnight service back then. Good luck these days. In any case I picked off some of those Thompson Conversion Kits from him at the same time. $700 a pop back then. Same for the DIAS. Sure wished I still had all of those stacked up in the vault. I never did understand how the Thompson Conversion Kits worked. I could only guess that you slotted the bolt and welded them in place? They only work in the full auto mode. No semi function.
