I have built several Mono-Pod devices which turn the BAR into a gun with a tri-pod mounted weapon. The mono-pod fits into the hole on the sling swivel on the bottom of the butt stock. The device was copied from the one pictured in the BAR book - Rock and a Hard Place. The original experimental mono-pods were made from steel. I made mine from brass so they can't be mistaken as originals. Asking $300 for the one I have left

I would snag this in a second IF you could turn down the stem to fit the monopod hole of my Barrett M82A1 . It's monopod is held in place by a screw going into a divot and adjusts by divot to divot rather than a threaded screw .

Chris,

The Barrett monopod adjusts by two methods.

The gross adjustment is by the knob that screws into the divots in the stem as you describe. That gives 2" of adjustment in 0.20" increments

The fine adjustment is by turning the threaded sleeve that fits over the stem. That gives another 3" or so of infinitely variable adjustment

Sleeve ? Sleeve ? What Sleeve ? No mention of a sleeve in the instructions . I'll check it out when I get home tonight . Is the sleeve part of the monopod or could it be hidden up in the stock ? Maybe mine is stuck and I didn't notice it . I'll see .

Chris

PS : thanks

       I've had the M82A1 for 2-1/2 years and I've had it out several times . I was kinda disappointed that such a fine rifle had such a sucky monopod set up . Sat down with a couple of vice grips and pads and managed to un-torque the two pieces apart . They were very tight and the oil / grease had gelled it together . Thanks , Strange Ranger , my faith in Barrett has been restored .

BigBoy99 , I'll no longer need the Bar monopod . Sorry for taking over your sell thread .

Folks , I had one on my BAR which went with it when it was sold last year . I thought about keeping the 'pod for the .50 , but it was original so that was out of the question . It makes a neat accessory , don't let this get away .

The stock has to be cut to take the " bent" style rear sling swivel . The stock needs to have the hole in it to take the monopod's stem . The swivel has to have the hole / shaft to go into the stock hole and recieve the stem . Not all the " bent " style sling swivels have the hole , but they may be installed on a stock with the hole .
