azboater
So I am going to shoot my C&R PPSH-41 this weekend for the first time I have 3 drums, 2 came with the gun 1 I bought separately All lock in gun & fit, however 2 of the drums can only be turned 3 winding clicks and stop, 1 drum goes 8 clicks as demonstrated on you tube videos describing correct function & tension....So are the 2 broken or sprung? Can they be adjusted?will they function and unload a 71 round drum with only 3 clicks? or does it make sense to just replace them? Thanks In Advance Everybody! APEXgunparts
I have had to "tune" PPsh-41 drums before. You may need to take one apart and reset the start tension. It never hurts to have them apart to clean and lube before use.ALSO, the stick mags are very simple to work with!Richard

Frank Iannamico
What is stopping it? I suspect the follower arm may be installed incorrectly. Remove the little screw and remove the arm. Release (CAREFULLY) the tension and wind it 8 clicks and then reinstall the follower at the end of the circular track.

Watch your fingers when working on those drums! Always support it so that there is no pressure on the release button in the back.
MrBill
i purchased a PPSH from a seller in Florida (waiting on form 4) and when we agreed to a price i sent first payment. We did not discuss magazines but quick story,it did not include them.He offered me two drum mags for $125 and said these work great with the gun.He also warned me that he had bought a total of seven drums over the years and only had good luck with these two. Probably sold the other drums. So maybe these drums are much more finicky than say a Thompson?
Mongo
The drums are fairly easy to tune unless the spring in them has gone totally tits up. I bought 20 of them a long time ago when they were only $10 a piece and proceeded to tune them to my Ppsh. About 7 of them did not have enough spring tension left int he spring and could not be adjusted to ever run so they were sold on to some one else to try. One the spring broke and it was used as parts. The rest were all tuned and adjusted to work. BTW you can make a winding tool from a 2.5" PVC glue on pipe cap that makes the drums much easier to load and wind as well as adjust. I will try to track mine down and post a picture of it.
