Monitor Belt

Recommended Posts

After a decade of searching for Monitor related items, I finally found and purchased a real deal Monitor Mag Pouch Belt.

Many thanks to the collectors that made it happen!

jl7422 for the lead and Normal1959 for the sale.

My Monitor collection is now complete.

Thanks,

Darryl

As a side note:

Finding a non existent FBI Monitor hard case would be nice too.

I've only seen a photo of one.

Thanks again,

Darryl

Chopper,

The belt would fit you with the adjustable webbing on its backside.

With that in mind, I recently bought a modern bullet proof vest size 3X,

tried it on and it wouldn't close. I had to take photos so they could size what I needed.

Turns out I need a 6X, the vest is a flexible armor type that's capable of stopping

rifle rounds.

With what the dumbarats are spouting, who knows what's in store for us.

Stay safe,

Darryl

Dan,

Would you be interested in trying to fab the case?

Let me know,

I'll post the photo of the Monitor case when I get back to my work computer.

In the past, I had spoken to Greg Fox about making a reproduction case, but couldn't

get past the need of getting the gun to him to get the fit up done.

Maybe I could get Dan to build the box with Greg's direction since I've given Dan the

measurements of the Monitor to assist him build the excellent reproductions he does.

Then ship the box to Greg for the leatherette covering phase of it.

Of course, I would cover all the incurred related cost of the project.

Just maybe?

That's great.
Dan can you contact Greg to see if he could pitch in?
I think the case box should be made with the very stable Baltic birch plywood, of course Greg may have
other recomendations.
I'll post the photo Monday.
The case is similar to the Winchester 07 vintage case.

This is the only photo I've seen of the elusive FBI Monitor case.

Dan, let me know what you think?

Thanks,

Darryl

Sounds good, lets start the process. Did he say what type of wood to use?

Looks like the vertical strut in the top lid is shaped to fit the grip.

I have the special barrel cleaning rod as well.

What's the metal part that looks like it goes in the mag well?

Let me know,

Thanks again,

Darryl

I'm only seeing more magazine loaders with a leather restraint strap.

I've never used a mag loader.

Looks like plenty of space for spare parts. Might make a spot for the mag. belt too.

It would be nice to see a full open view of the case. But beggars can't be choosy :-)

Thanks for another lead. I bought a couple of them.

When I first looked at it, it appeared to be a device affixed to the box bottom

to locate the rifle in the case. It may just be a loose loader laying in the case.

I don't think from what I see that the box has more than one partition to hold the rifle other than the one for the barrel. If you make it the length of the rifle it won't slop forward and backwards lengthwise. And maybe it's just the right width that the toe of the stock is against the front edge and the rear sight is against the back edge. Could be something under the gun to have the receiver contact the back edge rather than the wings of the rear sight.

Dan, I'm glad your in on the project. Your ideas and common sense approach will probably improve the design of the case.

Besides the cleaning rod and mag loader, I think we have enough room in the bottom of the case to store a leather WWI

parts pouch and the mag belt.

Would you like me to send you the accessories I have for fit up purposes?

Maybe there should be leather or pillow blocks at the contact points interface similar to the Thompson period cases?

I'm hearing that at least one other Monitor fan is interested in purchasing a case.
