Stevens/ Riverside 520A build.

Recommended Posts

Now that my M12 is done I can get started again on a Stevens/Riverside 520A that I bought in 2019. Planning on leaving the original 30 inch bbl alone but building a second trenchgun bbl assembly. Another of JMB’s brilliant creations. I’ve since found an ‘in the white’ heat shield, bbl, mag tube plus action bar, lower swivel and a plain stock and pump handle from GPC. Started bluing things yesterday. Coming along.

Update—started fitting the too proud stock to the tangs and recvr today.

Nice job! Looks great.

Another interesting and easily doable project along the same lines is a Stevens 620 trench gun. Use the same repro bayonet mount and heat shroud assembly. The 620 was a slightly more modern looking gun with a cross bolt safety in back of the trigger guard. The safety does not bit the web of your hand during firing like the 520's does. Like civilian 520s, the 620s are often found in really nice shape.

Thanks, thinking that I stumbled up on it on fleabay years ago along with the cut down bbl. Someone else’s abandoned 520-30 build. The magazine, spring, follower, mag nut, stock, plain pump handle and slide parts were found either there or at GPC.
