Who Knows West Hurley 28's?

Recommended Posts

The first thing would be to make sure you have an original one piece buffer pilot vs. the two piece brazed buffer pilot.

Does the gun work/shoot properly or does it jam, failure to feed, etc? The main thing that can be wrong is that the angle cuts for the bronze lock are improperly machined. But if your gun works OK the assumption would be that the angle cuts are OK and nothing dramatic would be required.

jkpollo,

Welcome to the Thompson forum. And congratulation on your new West Hurley Thompson submachine gun!

If you are interested in the history and parts inside your West Hurley, I recommend my 4th book, Thompson: Colt's, West Hurley's & More. You will find two chapters on the West Hurley Thompson guns (and much much more). It is available on Amazon.com or directly from me. I only have one book left so let me know and I can provide ordering information and hold it for you. I am available at: tkd5501@fuse.net.  See link below:

If your new to the Thompson community, I find this book invaluable to new Thompson owners.

TD.

That is an early, low serial number, Westie. Do you know if it is in original condition or has it been modified over the years. It was likely made with surplus GI parts before AOC ran out and began making the junk.
