Detailed Article on the CUTTS Compensator

Recommended Posts

Ran across this today while looking for other things. The most detailed explanation of the adoption of the Cutts Compensator, and the testing of the CUTTs compensator on BARs and other machineguns of the day. Very long, but a great read!!

I could not post the download as it is too big.

I can email to someone with better computer skills.

Bayrain,

The threads on the original Cutts Compensator are listed in the drawing at the beginning of the article. They are 0.618-28-N-D as shown in the drawing, aka 0.618"-28-NS-2. They were made to fit an existing barrel at the time. This thread was only used on the Type I compensators. Starting with the Type II, the thread was changed to 3/4"-28-NS-2.

Hope that helps.
