Abody71
I have agreed to a deal on M2. I have never held a M2 much less worked on one. What do I need to read? What parts should I have on hand to do common repairs? Are the aftermarket M1/M2 compatible with the USGI carbines?
NFA amnesty
Registered receiver or "kit" regarding your M2? I would stick with USGI parts as much as possible. If you bought a "kit" what part is registered? That would be helpful to know regarding recommended extra parts.
Frank Iannamico
A common problem causing malfunctions is worn extractor and ejector springs. The most reliable 30 round magazines I have found are not original US GI, but are the ones made in Taiwan marked UU on the spine. Beware of other aftermarket and fake GI ones. Abody71
The trigger pack is the registered part. No mention of a firearm on form

No mention of a firearm on form 4 So on the Form 4, it has "trigger pack" listed? If it is a "kit", one of the evil 7 parts that make an M1 into an M2 will be registered and serial number placed on the part. Mine is a trip lever. The best in my opinion is the trigger housing. I have extra parts except for a trip lever as I don't want to ever be questioned why I would have an extra since I have a registered trip lever. I would get an extra round bolt, extractors, guide spring and M2 bolt carrier unless that is your registered part.

NFA amnesty
You did great, the trigger housing is the most desired part to be registered....it will not wear out. I would try to source the 7 parts that make a M1 into a M2 to have on hand. However the guide rod, guide rod spring, bolt, hammer spring, extractor, firing pin, and bolt carrier would be a must for me to have on hand.. Out of those, the extractor might be the first item to actually break assuming you have replaced all your springs. I only shoot brass cased ammo, but know other folks who have used steel cased. I have read that extractors can break after several thousand rounds of shooting steel, but have no idea if that is true or not. Others state shooting steel case could cause damage to your bore/chamber. All I know is the rifle was designed to shoot brass so that is what I use since my host is a USGI Postal Meter rifle. Are you just getting the trigger housing, or is it a true kit with all the other parts to convert your host rifle to a M2? You can go on youtube and there are a few good videos on how to install the parts on your host gun. You might be lucky and your host carbine might have a M2 hammer, M2 bolt carrier, along with a round bolt. That will save you some time and money. Have fun with your M2 and hope we can help if you have questions or need help. Edited January 10, 2023 by NFA amnesty grammer

JJX
Try a USGI clamp-on muzzle brake. It is a significant improvement for me. They are inexpensive and if you do not like it, just take it off and it does not alter your Carbine. Congratulations.
dismed
I got a registered parts kit (trigger housing) a few years ago. Sunday I finally found some local who sold me a postal meter carbine for a host. Being unfamiliar with the gun disassembly and installation of the extra parts was a little frustrating. I ordered some KCI 30rd mags and ammo so hopefully it arrives by weekend to test fire. The hardest part for me was getting the slide off and the trip lever under the dis connector. Here she is done.
68coupe
"The hardest part for me was getting the slide off and the trip lever under the dis connector." Even when you know the trick and are used to removing/installing the slide, it can be somewhat tricky at times. LOL As to the trip lever, "rock" it under the disconnector, then install the switch. YMMV V/R Karl, 68coupe
