leid
Norm, There is something strange about this BAR that very few people have questioned. Colt BAR serial numbers started with #12701 and ended with #25,000 for the first contract. This serial number range was assigned by the U.S. government because we had 3 different manufacturers of the original BARs operating at the same time: Colt, Winchester, and Marlin-Rockwell. I will email Drew and ask him. Carey Update: Apparently Drew has chosen not to reply to my inquiry. ?.
harvester of sorrow
I asked Jim Ballou about this gun, he had a similar question about the S/N. His thought was that it might be serial number "I", one of the alphabet serial number guns made for Colt executives.
