maxfaxdude
I saw one for sale recently at $32 K which seems high.

APEXgunparts
Yes they are. I saw a Goldman tube OWEN at the SAR show here in Phoenix. I didn't like the camo colour scheme. This is mine: Richard
johnsonlmg41
How much was the tube gun at the show? I wouldn't hesitate to strip the paint off a tube gun...if the price was right? The color on yours I could live with easily, but I have seen one or two that are hard on the eyes, like some Austen's. I have one or two guns I have had to learn to live with to appreciate over time...but it took a while?
Ivan
I shot one of the Goldman tube guns many years ago. It ate up 9mm Para like salted peanuts. Although a Southpaw it worked OK for me. IMHO the Owen was one of the best old school mill and lathe machined SMGs ever. The other is a UD42 . Always thought them weird and not handy until I actually fired one. The top mount mag isn't as bad as thought !
PTRS-14.5
The one on Curt's table at SAR was asking $28K. I passed on that for a tube gun. Thx Charlie A&O C3

Thx Charlie A&O C3 I looked at that OWEN too. I didn't care much for the camo paint job. The tag said $30K. Last Australian issue OWEN I saw was years back at Knob Creek. It was $32K and didn't last more than a couple of hours. Richard

I took a pic (see it below). Too much for a tube gun IMO. But Owens do not come up very often in any form.
johnsonlmg41
My question would be did it get painted in the home depot parking lot, or right at the fairgrounds parking lot? Did it get painted on setup day or Wed? There must still be an Earl Scheib in Phoenix? Good thing it's easy to strip. Was the Austen real or a tube, and what was the number on that if anyone recalls? APEXgunparts
The AUSTEN is a GOLDMAN tube gun. I think they were asking $25K on it. I have been looking for one and almost got into "haggling mode" with Kole about buying it. My OWEN is also a Goldman tube build. Richard
johnsonlmg41
Hmm, that seems a bit optimistic, but cheaper than the one on GB, that is missing original parts for much more money. It at least looks good? Hard to put a number on stuff like that? I guess the good news is it's less than 141,000? For now?

Georgedup
I recently came across a situation where I was unsure if a Reising pouch I was looking at was an original or a reproduction. The quality seemed good, but there were some subtle differences that made me question its authenticity.

maxfaxdude
Update: I had a chance to buy an all original C&R Owen from MWT for $65K...too rich for my blood. I bought the Owen as pictured above from Kole at US Armament for $24,250 instead. Edited June 2 by maxfaxdude

The Austen in that picture sold at the Morphy's auction. There is an OWEN mag on GunBroker right now. I have heard that OWEN mags are being imported from Australia. Not going to be cheap, but will be available. Richard

I just reread my post and I had meant to start with "Congratulations!" OWEN's are such a neat gun with a fascinating back story. They served for a very long time in the Australian military. The gun you purchased from Kole was in the earlier configuration than the one at Morphy's. I hope whoever is importing OWEN mags also brings in Bolts and parts, I like to have spares.
