reconbob
We have discussed a couple of times the counterfeit "Savage" Thompson trigger frames sold by Scotty57 on Gunbroker and also by Mckay Enterprises. The sample I got back in the summer had a parkerized finish which concealed the surface finish. I have encountered several of these frames recently and just got one in-the-white that the owner wanted blued. So here are photos to show the difference between Mckay and original G.I. - Mckay - Original G.I. - The frames were represented as original Savage frames which have not been serial numbered yet. This Mckay frame has an incorrect "NO. S" marking with no serial number but with fake GEG markings stamped (smaller than original) where they would be overstamped by a serial number - I think these frames may no longer be available but it seems that they will be turning up for a while as people who bought them "no returns" thinking they were original frames sell them off to get their money back. The quality of the machine work is top notch, the parts fit, etc. But these are NOT original Savage frames so be aware... Bob
jirahice
I almost bought one of these with the idea of hand-stamping the serial of a demilled upper to create a 'matched' pair. I almost bought one and was trying to get it direct from him, but he decided he wanted to charge more than his gunbroker listing even though he'd save the fees, so I never went through with it. Glad I didn't. The GEG stamps right in front of where the serial would go made me suspicious too. As someone in the previous thread said, Sioux ordnance wrapper he put in the background was a nice touch.
mbc230
They are not discontinued. He is still selling them from his site. Still advertising them as manufactured by Savage. This is the headline from his site. See below: Just In. Thompson 1928 and M1A1 Parkerized Frames! https://mckay-ent.com/ What a scammer and liar.......BUYER BEWARE! I am not knocking his manufacturing. but more of his credibility as an honest person / seller. He is lying to people.
