Running Select fire suppressed

Recently got approved for my select fire m1A. Did a little tinkering and have been running it suppressed with a couple of issues. The gas blowback is intense. I used a blank firing adapter cover to deflect the gas. This works fine until either brass gets stuck between the cover and receiver jamming the rifle or if the weld gives out on the blank firing adapter.

Anyone have any suggestions or experiences running suppressed?

I run suppressed, but have not had these issues.  What "cover" are you referring to?  The gun ejects out the top and there is normally nothing there?

I have not noticed blowback, but there is always some with any suppressed platform?

A case deflector that I pulled out of the blank firing adapter box. The gas blowback is horrible when running Select fire. The second comment about a different plug sounds like it might be worth a try.

Yes, don't use supersonic rounds. If you must, then the adjustable gas plug link by Inertord is the way to go. Use subsonic rounds with a can for a very pleasant shoot. I posted a thread about this on the M14 Forum.

I reread your post and wanted to ask if you meant that you want to run full-auto with a can, or semi? Using supers, I bet that the can will overheat very quickly on full-auto. Why not just wear hearing protection? On semi, I guess it makes sense (with supers) as it does lessen the noise. I use the Schuster's for all can applications for my M1A's.

I have ordered a gas plug and will play for that once it arrives. Running supers in a can on full auto is because it's cheaper than subs and it makes a wicked noise and is a lot of fun tbh. But yes the can will overheat after a couple of mags.

Significantly tightens up my groups with the suppressor.  Not quite in half.   My M14 will shoot as tight or tighter with the can than the NM semi pre-ban M1A.  I find it cool to have a sub 1/2 MOA target rifle I can shoot without ear plugs, then just flip a switch to full otto if I want.   Course I pull the mag of federal match out first!

Interesting. Your ears must be as bad as mine, the only problem when I do shoot supers (with M14/M1A or an AR) is that those at the range around me are not using cans. You are right though, the cans do make the report low enough to be "no earplugs".

I like shooting my M1A Scout Squad with a Gemtech One and Burris fixed 2.75 Scout scope, using S&B subs. Now that's a very nice quiet gun. Won't cycle of course (see my post on that!) but what a nice shooting gun.

For those of you new to suppressing M14's or M1A's, take note that these guns were NOT designed to run cans, so the concentricy of the flash hider threads may not be in spec for mounting a can. Of my 9 M1A's only four passed the alignment bore guide test. BE CAREFUL!

That looks 10x times better than I thought it would.  Do they have a dedicated mount for it?  BTW....someone stole your glock switch on the side?

Thanks. This is not my M14... I don't want to mess with that gun. GemTech does have dedicated mounts for the can, so I bought the thread adaptor, replaced the OEM flash hider and then mounted my GemTech quick mount. Really a nice set up. Of course between the scope and the can, this gun requires a rather stout man to carry! BTW, its a dedicated "can" gun.

What kills me is that the OEM flash-hider threads are so inconsistent on the M1A's. Only four of my nine guns are concentric.
