MG42 At Morphy's

Zohan,

Not bidding on that, have enough already, fortunately.  I will say, pretty rare in original finish these days.  Most have been refinished in a variety of ways.    I think some buyers will frown on the worn original finish since they are used to seeing shiny French re-blues, so that may work in your favor?   For sure in the 50's, but like everything else, 2 guys have to show up, or at least the house will need to go higher to push the numbers up?

Best of luck in bidding.  I have other items on my radar at the moment.  Yes, bummer it was not offered up direct here, but that ship has sailed, but if you win perhaps Billie32 can offer up more background on it directly?

I prefer my guns as original as possible.   Not shinny is just fine.

Morphs is a pain in the ass to deal with. They change 20% of top of the winning bid so I have to take that in my calculations.  They don’t even provide good service.    The last time I got a multi item lot from them they could not ship it to me or even pack it.   I had to get an unlicensed courier to pickup and pack C&R machine guns.  Never had this problem with RIA

I saw that 42 the other day after I went down to pick up my Vickers Gun I won from them. Whoever won it did excellent as I have no doubt that's original Applied paint. IMO probably one of the best examples (not in condition,) but with Authentic Character!

99% of the paint was inside the top cover which makes the "winter camo" theory questionable since you don't see traces in pics on the interior of the barrel jacket, but it could be the pics?  In person is great if you can do it, but I've only been to a couple live.   Agreed, the whole "day job" thing does get in the way with guaranteed income taking precedence over "my hobby above all".

This is a pair we "curate" here.  Love to add a nicer one, but haven't really seen one at the right time.  Took a long time to find these.
