Good news from the ATF

Recommended Posts

Stay tuned to see how this plays out. If it's true, it's a very good thing, but the anti-gun crowd may not have heard or had time to formulate a plan yet.

Keep those fingers crossed and knock on every wood gunstock you come across. LOL

Old news, several threads on here and Sturm discussing this….ill believe it when it’s in writing and someone explains how they made the 1968 GCA null and void….sorry boys but don’t go looking for a big payday like some are already doing as you are opening yourself up to legal issues….and there could be other legal issues for the ones that started all of this as well…..read the other threads and you’ll understand

I did have an e-filed app for a suppressor go through in 4 days, filed on Friday, approved on Monday ( 2 months ago).  Maybe helped that a mailed-in application for a different suppressor took 9 months, the e-filed one was filed 2 weeks after the approval for the first one.

I previously had an e-filed Form 1 approved in a month a few years ago and figured that since I was "in the ATF database" that my e-filed Form 4 would turnaround faster ... it still took 7-8 months a year ago. That's amazing that Form 4's are turning around in a week now!!!

I sold my West Hurley 1928 on April 2, 2023. Still waiting for approval! I talked to them (BATFE) last week, they told they are still waiting on the FBI background check. They received the paperwork on April 5, 2023. Even the agent I talked to said, "Wow, that has been a while." In the mean-time, I bought a suppressor and it was in my hands 6 months to the day I sent it in.

can i ask you you wealthy guys how do you do any bizz anymore at all buying $25g to $100g guns?i had a few hard times buying 10 Colt 21's at one time for $50g and now at $500g IMPOSSIBLE!! I remember buying 65 polytechs at once for $32g on a single buy on a guy getting out of bizz.today would be over $200g it has eaten away any profit margins today.

a freaking  single Mac 10 for $12 g. when i would buy ten at a time for $5g.

I CAN SEE HOW MANY SAID SCREW IT.

AND MANY OLD PLAYERSdon't even bother to look. if it was worth $10g to me it sure is not worth $50g inflated and greed. and i am sure every 25 to 30 year old today is hopping to get one. post-504-0-35269800-1616100300_thumb.jpg

It seems the guys filing Individual are getting them quickly. I'm at 2 weeks on both a Form 4 and a Form 1 with a traditional NFA trust. There's rumor that the "standardized" trusts (like the Silencershop single shot trusts with a single responsible person) are closer to the approval times for individuals. This is a bit ridiculous when you consider the single shot trust as the 41F loophole that it really is.

Plenty of folks on the NFA subreddit claiming they were approved in mere hours for individual submissions.

I’ve got a guy who filed seven Form 4 individual items on March 24 and they still haven’t been approved. They even had electronic prints!

A "first in, first out" approach to NFA forms processing would make the processing times easier to defend with resource constraint excuses.

The current reality is an arguably discriminatory practice by a government agency managing applications to exercise a constitutionally guaranteed right.

I've had an eForm 4 out since last June with electronic prints. None of this makes sense.

I waited 9 months for my CCW permit in Fl. Of course, that was when a devout Democrat was the Secretary of Agriculture. They claim(ed) that veterans got preference, and it was only after I brought this up, TWICE, that it finally went through.

The problem with the Department of Ag is there aren’t any farmers or ranchers working there

Right? They're all professional bureaucrats or career politicians. Same's true at the NICS department of the FBI. Just my own humble opinion, although, I'm sure there are some caring, hard working individuals. BTW, what does a CCW permit have to do with agriculture, anyway? LOL

I would guess all the senior employees at the FBI National Crime Information Center or NCIC are well versed in the system. Obviously, new employees take time to train but all in all, I think this program runs pretty well. You have to remember the old adage, garbage in, garbage out, when dealing with any computer system including NCIC. That is why investigators in the field will always go to the source of the NCIC information to verify and document if important to the investigation at hand. The information in NCIC is not really evidence, but it will lead an investigator to evidence. That said, when attempting to make a vehicle traffic stop and the dispatcher tells you NCIC reveals the car is stolen, you take the dispatcher at their word!

My recent transfer using the old paper submittal method of a C&R gun which was completed 2 months ago took 282 days.  It's good news that the e-transfers are going much faster, especially for guys who need to transfer suppressors.

So do all you guys pay 100% upfront now and wait a year to get the keys to drive the car you just paid for?OR DOES THE SELLER SAY ONLY 50% DOWN.AND YOU PAY UPON PICK-UP NOW...I CAN'T IMAGINE DROPPING $26G ON SOMETHING.AND WAITING 6 MONTHS OR LONGER.

I BOUGHT SOME GUNS RECENTLY UNDER $5,000 AND SAYS WILL JUST PICK THEM UP.EVERYBODY TODAY MUST BE A REAL RICH PLAYER. PAY AND FORGET ABOUT IT.post-504-0-66325000-1598997157_thumb.jpg

The ATF sure seems to think so. I guess an agent makes that in a few days or minutes, right? It don't sound right, in the colloquial. They're playing with a lot of other peoples' money, leaving folks out there hangin'.

Just my humble opinion, 68coupe
