APEXgunparts
You should try setting up the tripod in the A/A config and shoot while standing. It is especially interesting if you use a #1 rifle as the front A/A tripod leg! Richard
Zohan
My tripod has all the parts to make it AA.  But I still want to get a Enfield #1.   I’ve shot it as AA will make a vid at some point.

Zohan
Do you ever use your BREN with a drum?  I have a MK2 drum but all my other drum guns (Tommy, PPSh, AM180) don’t run great with drums.  So I did not even try running it with a drum.

What I have not had were the A/A sights needed to be used with the drums because they set so tall that they block the original sights. Seems like you have to have the wooden storage box to load the drum as it has some sort of holder while you turn the winder. I have a BREN magazine loader, and its not the easiest thing to work either! Its based on the ZB magazine loader that APEX has a lot of, and it too needs to be secured to work the best. These things always remind me why these guns are called "crew served" weapons! Richard

APEXgunparts
I just read thru the sections of the BREN book covering the 100 round drum tests, speeding up the ROF for A/A use and the "motley mounts". They British gave up trying to increase the ROF in the BREN for A/A use, it just didn't work. It reads like fairly early in the war it was decided the BREN wasn't a good choice for A/A fire, probably why the MK1 tripod became the MK2. The Motley mount had a seat for the gunner, and A/A sights built into the mount because the 100 round drums prevent the use of the sights on the gun. The only other suggested alternative for aiming when using the drum is tracer. The Motley mounts came set up for single and dual BREN guns. It would be a neat thing to have, but not practical to lug to the range! BTW, there are A/A front sights for Hotchkiss LMG's that have an aftermarket bracket to clamp around BREN barrels. APEX now has all those front A/A sights, lots of them. Richard
Zohan
Vid I found of BREN shooting with drum sights.  My BREN came with all kinds of extras.  I don’t have a drum box or sights.   I think that drums are a neat idea and a cool thing to own but not really practical.
Zohan
as you can see I just don’t have a good experience with drums.  My Movie.mov
