Punch marks indicate that specific inspections were done on the martial arms of the era. They were still used and seen as late as M14 production. The punches are not a way to tell that a barrel has been replaced.

It is an M1. It’s a National Postal Meter with “U” marked receiver which was union switch and signal subcontractor. I think only 60,000 were produced. So somewhat rare. And it’s all marching NPM with the exception of the hand guard and sling swivel, which were war time replacements.

Very Nice.  I imagine you get to spend a lot of time talking to people about your collection when you go to the range.  The history on that table is amazing! Your web gear,  the quartermaster knife all of it is just exceptional!
