Found the canvas part in with a few WWII Thompson parts. Anyone know what it is?

It is a canvas cover for the M1 Thompson receiver.
I actually have one on my gun.
It doesn't look like it will make it on, but in the end it does.

Richard is correct. M1/M1A1 Thompson breech cover, I believe this is a British item.

Not to be contrary, but it's clearly marked U.S.

My error, I should have said, I believe they were originally British used. I have one somewhere, not in that good of shape, well used. Haven't seen it for a while. I'll try to find it and see if it has U.S. markings. I got mine from the British guy that had all Thompson parts at the big shows. He passed away a few years ago.

Might be a reproduction I think IMA and some other places made them years back. Never saw a US marked one as mentioned they were a commonwealth item

Funny you should mention that.
Today I found half a box full of the real issue Thompson action covers, and another half box full of these new manufactured copies.
The one in this picture is one of those copies, the marking on the brass snaps is a give-away as are the eyelet holes.
We will have them properly identified when they get listed on the APEX Gun Parts web site.
