mgvince
What’s a good price for this style box of shells. Owner says red paper cartridges, full box. Box has been opened but is in good shape. It’s sealed in shrink wrap. Won’t open till we agree on a price.
Colt Chopper
I would guess five- $600. I'll be interested to see what others think
Got Uzi
The box says $4.00 so doesn’t that mean that’s the sale price? LMAO!! JKJK In all seriousness I think it’s whatever the market will bring. Oddities like this or worth what someone is willing to pay and it’s only getting worse as time goes on. IMHO $450-$550 is a sellable range for them if you’d want to move them in a fair amount of time and let someone feel like they “got a deal” vs being married to it trying to squeeze every penny out of it. TD.
I agree with the price ranges mentioned by Colt Chopper and Got Uzi. Condition is the key for Colt era ammunition boxes. This one appears to be in pretty good condition. Perhaps a collector of Colt era ammunition boxes will chime in and discuss the rarity of this particular box. mgvince - Will you be at the All Thompson Show & Shoot next weekend? mgvince
Seller is asking $625. If I can get him down to $500 I might buy them. I don’t really need them. I don’t have a shot shell magazine to display them with. But you don’t see them for sale very often. No Tom. Unfortunately my wife’s health issues are keeping me close right now. I had to have a knee replacement myself. Edited July 28, 2024 by mgvince
mbc230
I have seen them go for $600.00 as high as $850.00, but echoing what TD stated that this all based on condition. I am looking for one myself, so I am paying attention to these and good find. They look to be in top notch condition. Good Luck with your purchase. brveagle
Thank you all for the replies. After talking to Vince for some expert advice and reading this thread, I was able to make it to the show and acquire the box. (We live in the same city) This is my first piece of collector ammunition and I am pretty stoked. It's already nestled nicely in the safe with the Thompson. Bridgeport28A1
What is the significance of the perforated number two and other characters or numbers that also appear across the label? The number 2 is just to the right of $
Dpedersen
Production code I believe. If you can decode it, it will tell you the date and lot of production.
