2 LONG IN THE FOUL
IMG_1004.MOV Just want to say thanks to all those who gave advise on getting my west hurly to run as intended. I am happy (no thrilled) to report that 80 rounds ( 1) 50 rd mag) and (1 30 rd mag ) went through with out a hick cup. You'll remember me as the guy who opened up his receiver and found foreign looking parts. All USGI parts were bought and I installed them. The only question I have is the recoil spring I purchased ended up being too long and wouldn't fit so I used the old one. Would it be ok to cut the new one down?? Well anyway I really appreciate all your help Stay Frosty
reconbob
It would be best to just get some correct springs. If the spring is too long it is probably not a Thompson spring. Plus, springs are so cheap vs. the value of the gun there is no reason to risk it. The correct length of the spring is 11 5/16" +/- 5/16". There are "hi speed" aftermarket springs out there, but I do not think they are necessary. Bob
