MS Collector
I did not see any "Arctic recovered" story in the Bowman sales link. Perhaps the history is found elsewhere? A link to the history would sure be appreciated!

SparksNArcs
I posted my kit on here a while ago, they are very rough but many are matching numbers guns, not to mention British cash-and-carry period M1928s. I was lucky to select one from a third party vendor that had an original Savage vertical front grip. Edited August 22 by SparksNArcs

MS Collector
My guess was possibly the British supplied these (Lend-Lease) TSMG's to the resistance in Norway . . . where the packed-in-cosmoline guns got stuck in some long-forgotten cave, tunnel, etc. Looking at the horizontal foregrips on some of the guns pictured, I see a sling attachment point that is not USGI; apparently added by some end-user? Perhaps this non-USGI addition will help the TSMG experts here (and I am NOT one of them) better ID the source of the "Alpine" guns-turned-parts kits? MS Collector
Correction: the non-USGI sling attachment point is visible on the vertical foregrip of one of the "Alpine" TSMG's. This attachment point looks sort of like what the GEW 98 rifles of WWI used; some of the pre-war wooden stocked German SMG's also used similar sling attachment points (e.g. MP18, MP28; MP35). Perhaps this detail is helpful?
Bridgeport28A1
The sling attachment on the vertical grip in ArcNSpark post is typical of British use.
SparksNArcs
I've actually done some research on the sling positions in British use, based on what t I could find in manuals and photos. Initially, the early M1928s bought were fitted with Lee Enfield swivels on the right side of the foregrip to be used with the factory bottom mounted swivel on the buttstock. This appears to have been changed around 1941 or so, with the swivel placed on the left of the foregrip and the buttstock swivel moved to the top; period British manuals note that the previous configuration is no longer the standard despite reusing old drawings. This was done to allow the user to put the sling over the top of their shoulder and have the Thompson held at hip level; the Lanchester and STENs would see similar handling to allow for firing from the hip. Once the horizontal foregrip became the standard at the start of lend-lease, the swivel often got moved to the left side to match how the vertical was setup. My example was originally fitted for the right side, but was later moved to the left, there are still holes on the right. I fitted an appropriate buttstock to match as the kits don't come with them, apparently they were burned.

I had to shelve the project due to life getting in the way. The receiver is complete with denials, but I messed up my cast steel actuator trying to bore it out and need to buy a new one from Waffenmeisters; don't want to ruin an original. Several people have built post samples from the M1928 Bowman kits already, and several semi M1A1s from them as well.

SparksNArcs
If they were that cheap I would have bought several. Wasn't born early enough to see the cheap kits available, so us newcomers are stuck with the dregs. You buy what you can get at the time, be thankful you got to play with the good stuff, they will never go down in price.
