tricky9914
Hey all, I have had experience with 150gr FMJ in both my guns, but I have not ever fired 180gr Soft Point in neither my Lewis nor my Bren. I came across a guy locally selling off his .303 ammo, which is almost all 180 SP. Before buying it, I wanted to check and see if anyone else here shoots 180gr SP and if its gtg. Its made by S&B, new loads. Thanks! Edited September 1 by tricky9914
1gewehr
Original .303 Brit surplus is 174gr. The Lewis is not finicky about ammo. You may need to adjust the gas or spring to get it cycling reliably with that load. As long as you don't over-gas it and let the bolt slam into the back of the receiver, it'll be fine. Ivan
Have run 180 gr SP moderate 3031 IMR powder handloads through mine, no problem. Adjust the spring first, then try the gas adjustment from small to large. Would not recommend bullets over 180 gr though. If you can find any.
