Witten
I’ve been a collector of m1 carbines and garands for a few years and recently lucked into finding an m2 for a great deal. It’s a registered trigger housing, and it’s in an older Iver Johnson. It was done by John Stemple. The seller is an older gentleman and just wanted to get back what he paid for it. I’m new to the form 4 world, but think I filled everything out correctly. Mailed it off a few weeks ago, and my credit card was hacked the very next day. I contacted the atf multiple times to try to update payment info, but with no luck. The seller received the paperwork back yesterday saying payment was declined, so I was able to update it then mail it off again yesterday. Now we wait. What’s the general wait time looking like for in state individual to individual with hard copies of paperwork? The trigger housing itself is the registered part. I saw an older thread saying that could be iffy (though others said it was fine). Any updates thoughts on this? Also, any thoughts about keeping the trigger group in the Iver Johnson vs putting it in one of my usgi m1s? I have the option to just buy the trigger group, but may buy the iver to keep one of my usgi from wear and tear. Looking forward to learning from you all! jim c 351
Witten, I'll leave it to others to comment on the ATF problems. If I was in your situation , I'd put the housing in the Iver johnson when out blasting and put it in a hand stamped Inland when showing it off to fellow collectors. Good luck, Jim C
johnsonlmg41
Witten, there is nothing "iffy" about what you bought. It's legit and should transfer just fine. Times on what you've submitted can run from 1-9 months with the average around 7-8 months for a paper submission. Once in a while someone gets lucky and it's a month, once in a while something gets buried and can push a year. No reason not to buy the whole gun and shoot it as is. You are able to move that registered group to another gun at your discretion. Sounds like you got a screaming deal, why not take it all? Sounds like the gun was free anyhow? Cort Tompkins
I have a registered M2 trigger housing and it's a bunch of fun. My housing came with a beautiful IBM Carbine. I've also got an original Inland on which I've put an Ultimak picatinny rail and red dot, and also a new "Inland" M1A1 paratrooper repro Carbine. The new Inland needed a Type VI slide in order to work the trip lever, but otherwise the housing just drops in and works in all of them. The M2 housing isn't quite an HK sear, but still there's no reason not to accumulate handful of "hosts" for it!
Witten
Paperwork came back yesterday! I brought it home and put the trigger group in my inland to dress it up a bit.
StrangeRanger
What Jim C 351 said. Full auto fire is hard on carbine receivers. If you beat an Iver or Plainfield up you won't much care. That very nice Inland should be reserved for show
Robert Henley
How do you like the muzzle brake which attaches to the end of the barrel, i.e., how effective is it?

I haven’t shot it yet with the muzzle break. I’ll let you know when I do.
