kdiver58
How difficult is it to remove the barrel from a M-50? What are the chances of damaging the receiver? Any and all links or information would be very much appreciated. Thanks .. K
StrangeRanger
A little more info would be useful Why do you nee to remove it? Is it damaged? If so, How? Do you want it to be re-installable?
BORE
Whatever you have to do at no time should you apply any significant pressure to those welded receiver stubs. They will snap..
kdiver58
I have a perfect barrel and muzzle brake on it now. I want to add a threaded barrel now and then.. Thanks K
StrangeRanger
I would advise against this. The Reising is NOT readily adaptable to swapping barrels back and forth. You would be ahead of the game by removing the existing compensator with the barrel still in the receiver and making an adaptor that has a 7/8"-24 female thread that threads on in place of the compensator and a male thread that fits whatever you want to screw on (suppressor??). If you provide wrench flats you can easily unscrew the adaptor and reinstall the original comp or install an identical appearing but much more robust one from Bull Creek Arms. PM me your email and I will send a copy of Bull Creek's instructions for removing your compensator (and how to install theirs if you decide to go that way.) Since your comp has been in place for a while you may need a lot of penertant and some heat to loosen it up BTDT Also pay attention to the front sight height. If whatever you're screwing on is large enough in diameter to block it. you may need to add a front sight to the adaptor and leave the stock one in place for when the adaptor is not in use. Bull Creek's instructions will tell you how to clock the adaptor if you decide you need to add a sight to it Edited October 14, 2024 by StrangeRanger
skoda
I agree with Stranger Ranger. You don't want to be stressing or wearing down the irreplaceable receiver. I had a Reising and I took the comp off. It wasn't that hard to do. I then got a 7/8-24 adaptor from Bowers because I was using a Bowers can. It worked just fine. I found an extra tall Mauser front sight and put that in it's place. Pretty sure I got it from Brownells. But be forewarned that it makes for a really long firearm with a can on it.
