Just for discussion:

Hmmmm ok. I took some closer pictures but I can get better ones later. I know the people at that shop are pretty reputable and knowledgeable. The loader was behind glass and in consignment. I’d really like to know now cause if the consensus is repo I’d like my $225 back. I don’t see any evidence of welding. And the action is very smooth. https://www.thewarfront.com

Your loader looks legit to me. The rivets are right, as are the markings. There is no evidence of grinding on the loader body. I think you got lucky. That said, MP40 loaders have been extensively reproduced. They're something I no longer buy unless I have the chance to examine it first.

Loaders and mags made by Steyer have about the best quality of several manufacturers. They invariably fit and function perfectly. The 98E code changed to kur in early 1942. At The Front offers kur loaders as reproductions for about $80. They're perfect and can't be told from originals.

I’m up in Portland Oregon this weekend and stopped by The Warfront shop and picked up this Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG, Werk Steyr (A) 98E. Very Cool !

Yours looks to be the real McCoy.  The Waffenstamp is correct.  Fake ones usually omit this.

Check out his section on loaders.

So, this guy has what I consider to be the definitive list of known MP40’s by SN.  He articulates if his records indicate the unit is numbers matching or not.
Excellent reference.  I used it when I validated my MP40 (BNZ 41) purchase.  It was on his registry so I was confident the gun was real, and matching.

Ok thank you. Whew. After reading your post from 2012 I thought you had spotted something on mine that was dead give away.
