Cutts pins

Recommended Posts

Hello, can someone help me about finding original ww2 era pins for the front sight Cutts compensator?

I'm from Europe ...

I bought from a seller here a little box from British army with inside 20 M1/M1A1 front sight pins, unfortunately it's more short than the Cutts pins...

I can also buy from US but 90% of the weapons stores don't ship in EU.

Super thanks !!!

Mk1992,

How many Cutts Compensator pins do you need?

Below are two ordnance drawings for the front sight pins on the 1928 and M1 Thompson submachine guns. I am not a machinist. Period. From what I see, it appears the only difference in a front sight pin for M1 Thompson and 1928 Thompson is the length: .70" vs 1 1/16"

It appears the diameter of both pins is identical: .1411" diameter.

I also noted on the drawing for the M1 front sight pin that it appears to be acceptable for use on the 1928 Thompson (51-63).

All that said, I think it best one of our machinists take a look at the drawings and comment.

If the M1 pin will work, especially on a deac, I would use it. If you have to have the longer 1928 pin, have a machinist make one or how many you need. Used pins when found are probably going to have flattened end(s) unless pressed out.

I would like to see a picture of the box containing the M1 front sight pins.

Thank you very much for your precious reply, honestly I need only one/two pins for the 1928 model with cuts who have installed a homemade pin...

I started this topic since I think in USA where the Thompson was made there a a lot of spare parts then in Europe...

If I have the chance I prefer always put WW2 era spare parts.

Yes no problem tomorrow I will post the little box from WW2 with inside 20 brand new pins unissued.

I bought a new 28A1 sight blade and pin from Richard Garcia somewhat recently. They both appeared to be NOS. I have no idea whether or not he has more, but it may be worth asking. Alternatively, a very easy lathe project, especially given the engineering drawings that Tom so kindly shared.

I think we all misunderstood your original question and thought you were looking to buy the pins.  Thank you for posting the photo it is very interesting.  A portion of the drawing number as provided by TD, A153059 appears on the box.  Could the B.3 Amer. A32 refer to an updated drawing?

Very cool stuff.

On nice I hadn't noticed this detail A5153059!

Yess honesty if someone here have the ww2 era 1928 pins of course I'm interested 😅

I have a friend seller who have some M1/M1A1 ww2 box pins like my box for sale, any chance to have the 1928 version.

I found another one seller here who have 4 ww2 era 1928 pins and he asked me 15€ for each-one, a little bit expensive...

15€, is expensive for a pin, but putting it into perspective, if it is an original WW2 pin, how easy are they to find?

The question is, how desperate are you for one?
