Moose1
Just passing this along. Not sure if this a real Thompson or not, maybe airsoft. Did someone wanted to make an assault Thompson.
jojeep
I remember seeing a completely Engraved Thompson on the Cover of a Gun Magazine in the 1970's. Once saw a Buffed and Polished 1928 style Thompson, but these were done in the 1950's- 60's when a Thompson was reasonable in price plus the Tax Stamp. This is an abomination if real. Countryboy77
Look what some Millenel came up with to do to Grandpas gun he inherited after years of call of duty and fallout games to turn it to a competition gun.
full auto 45
There was one similar to that at one of the TATA show a few years back. I don't think he was allowed to shoot it at the range.
StrangeRanger
IIRC TATA requires that all guns be in nominally original configuration. Don't know whether that preceded the abomination showing up or was added as a result of it

Did someone wanted to make an assault Thompson. Clearly an airsoft, but you are right. The AR market has gone bonkers with "add-ons" that look cool but are just plain silly and add weight. I have a early model M16 (1962) and it's as light as a feather and shoots just fine! Compare that to the modern M4, which now weighs almost as much as the M14. Handgrips, flashlights, bipods, magnifiers, tool bags, compensators, and more. Hardly recognizable. Reminds me of the automakers and how cars seem to grow as each model year passes. StrangeRanger
Each of the bolt-on devices for an M4 is useful in some circumstances in its own right. The amalgamation of all of them on one rifle, maybe not so much. My AR has an old school A1 upper, a 16" M4 profile barrel, a tritium front post, a slimline forearm, a BCM pistol grip and an IWI stock that carries an extra 10 round mag. The only removable extras are an Inforce weapon light and a Redi-mag. The light is handy for things that go bump in the night. The Redi-mag is a leftover from when I used to shoot "practical" rifle; it doesn't weigh much unless you stuff an extra mag into it and doesn't interfere with anything. If I were building the gun today, I'd probably use a pencil barrel rather than the M4 profile It weighs 8lb 13oz with 28 rounds on M193 on board. Add 4oz for 10 rounds in the butt mag and 15oz. more if you stick a spare 28 round in the Redi-mag and you have a max weight of 10lb with 46 rounds on board. An M14 weighs more than that empty. Bipods, optics, lasers etc will add the same weight to either platform. Unless you're shooting at something over 200 yards away it's no contest. Coincidentally, there is a deactivated Gold and Chrome Plated M1A1 for sale in the UK at the moment: That reminded me, I have a chrome plated AKS47, which was a souvenir brought back from Iraq by a colleague of mine. He found it in Saddam Huseins place he told me, and therefore believed it was a ‘parade weapon’ for Saddams Republican Guard. He gave it to me, as it is dated 1963, the year of my birth. Frankford
I can fix all that Nickle & Chrome. Chemical stripper has come a long way. Under the plating is high polish steel and will blue up nicely. Except for the trigger. I would leave the trigger plated, just for effect.
