Hello, there are here some owners of the legendary Beretta M38A?

It's my favorite one smg of the WW2 and I saw many of them in my country Italy, used here during the war from the both sides....

I really appreciate to see this model outside Italy!

I've got a MAB38/42 (currently set up with a 38/44 bolt). I have several SMGs and the 38/42 is my favorite

There are 2 more Beretta owners in my club, one with a 38A and one with a 38/44 but neither of them post on this board

Nice, here in Italy I saw and shouted with the classic M38A, I saw many of them...

Bu I never seen before the 38/42 and 38/44, I think its very rare to find one!

I have a 38/42 and really like it too!  I also have the original paperwork from the WWII veteran who brought it back.  I won't say I like it more than my Thompson, because that's sacrilegious around here:)

There are two smg's but in my opinion are completely different from each other.

Beretta it's a classic 9mm submachine gun, the Tommy compared to the Beretta, looks like a little heavy machine gun, eavy weight, 90% of the parts machined and thick, it is indestructible 😅

I just recently bought this Beretta 38A at auction and will be posting a shooting video on Youtube once it is in my possession.   It's the first one I've seen with an original bayonet.

Really nice, on the top tube where is located the serial number, there are some writings or not?

Recently I saw a M38A without any writings, only the serial number...

I can't wait to see the video of shooting!

The lack of markings is fairly common on 38/42s and 38/44s.  The Germans had a fixation about not letting the Allies know where weapons were being produced so the Beretta information was often deleted.  There may also have been receivers produced by sub-contractors which would not have carried the Beretta information

I know this thing, especially for German firearms... but for the Italians firearms I never heard, maybe the M38A receivers was made without any letters since these lots of weapons was especially produced for a particular contract.

I have some books about the Italian paramilitary division "DECIMA MAS" and this division have submitted to Beretta some lots of M38A's, 100% sure.

I saw:

"no lettered" M38A without any letter on the receiver but the serial number punched also on the barrel cover and compensator.

"lettered" M38A with the serial number only on the receiver and barrel.

I recenttly bought a Italian book about this Beretta smg, maybe there are written some infos...

The demand for MP40s on both the Eastern and Western Fronts rapidly increased in mid 1944.  Some 38/42s and 38/44s were produced for German contracts since the production of MP40s could not also supply the demand on the Italian front. It's entirely possible that the un-marked guns were originally intended for the Wehrmacht

You get all the good stuff. Do these guns take proprietary magazines?

80% of the Italians ww2 smg's have the same type of magazine....

You can use a M38 magazine in a TZ45, FNAB43 ...

Also the post war made Beretta M12 use this magazine, you can recognize a WW2 production between post war models from the finishing and shapes, there are also a parkerized magazines for the M12...
