Mk1992
Hello, I need your help. Years ago I bought this sling for Tommy from a professional seller who described this sling 100% WW2 era. Was more expensive than others slings, around 120$ in the 2018. Recently a guy told me this is a reproduction since there are not one marking etc like Nobuckl or something else. The color are khaki and the canvas looks very old and not a new made item, also the smell looks old... Thank you very much!

gijive
Hi, That is a genuine WWII Kerr sling. Shorter than the No-Buckle slings with the patent dates. The rivets are not broken, which is common on the reproduction slings. You have a nice Thompson sling from WWII.

Nice, it's a good thing for me!
Bill in VA
IIRC, this is the M1928 sling; a shorter version of the Kerr sling first used on the M1917 service rifle, an intended for the TSMG.

john
Did the mustard colored slings (also heard them called M3 for the grease gun,,) come in a shorter length? I have two NoBuckl slings that fit my '28 guns perfectly but the unmarked mustard colored M3 sling is too short. I have heard these came in short and long versions, long fir Thompsons and short fir greasers. Can anyone verify or debunk this?
TSMGguy
This is an M3 sling, which leads to a little confusion. This is the sling's designation, not the weapon it was intended for. It was produced during WWII. All had a mustard-colored strap and were unmarked. A later M3 sling with OD strap was made during the Korean war, when stocks of WWII M3 slings ran short. All M3 slings had steel fittings. Countryboy77
Wouldn't a Kerr sling be a waste on an m3 greasegun? The positions on the greasegun any simple strap woukd do,not like you can use it it multiple configurations it was designed for.

The M3 Grease Gun was issued with the same sling used on the M1 carbine. Richard

Richard That's what I thought(wasnt 100% sure), but a couple fellas were talking about the nobuckel Kerr slings for the M3 greasegun on this thread .That's why I made the comment about the Kerr not being very useful on an M3 beside just throwing over a shoulder. It's not a sling for the M3 "grease gun". but rather a sling designated as M3.
